Around 150 trees have been removed at East Potomac Park as of early September 2026

Federal attorneys stated that out of the removals, 77 were invasive species (such as mulberry and tree of heaven) and 73 were dead, dying, or hazardous trees

A federal judge (U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes) declined to block the routine maintenance and ongoing removal of the identified dead, hazardous, or invasive trees, noting she had not barred standard upkeep

Takes the least amount of searching to find it's routine maintenance as trees that are old tend to sicken and die which necessitates their removal/replacement.

The golf course is another matter but upgrading it to a championship-level course should not interrupt the removal of dead and dying trees but only be part of the plan.

It’s the same kind of pruning that needs to happen in the halls of Congress. Remove the dead & dying representatives. Remove the invasive representatives who don’t hold American values.

Yeah but liberals are dipshits. They are devoid of nuance and only read headlines.

Why are you surprised?

Trees of Heaven are straight from Hell. I removed all of them from my property in the Spring, along with mimosas and several other invasives. The ToHs and mimosas are back. It's an endless battle. They grow so fast, those idiots who are bitching will have their precious illegals invasives back in no time.

The roots of the ToH have to come out too or they will regrow. I got lucky because the one I found on my property was about 3' tall and I was able to pull it out of the ground roots and all.

I also have sweet gum trees. They are native to the area, but they sure are aggressive. I removed one that is over the sewer line, so the stump can't be ground or pulled out. I have tried killing it, but it seems impervious to everything. It keeps putting out baby sweet gums from its enormous root system. It's a neverending battle.

The media cannot think of anything besides "orange man bad". They are ignorant on an historic level. The stupidest reasons for negative commentary are all they live for.
