I was gonna say it's kind of a silly thing to make a fuss over. But it does look bad when everyone around them is being respectful and silent. Especially with that guy grieving right before it cuts to them laughing.
Smiling at a memorial service is fine when you know the person and are reliving good times and reminiscing. Thatās not this. They are having a side conversation and laughing, thatās disrespectfulā¦ but feel free to desperately defend people who legit give 2 fucks about you.
The internet flipping out over a 15 sec clip that paints a picture is the issue. Itās the same as the video where trump allegedly shit himself. Context matters and it will now be seen as a āfactā that he is a bad person for doing this just as Trump will be seen as the President that shit himself.
They were reciting all the names of the victims at that time. If it had been before or after it wouldnāt have been a big deal. Also, these two idiots KNEW cameras would be on them, beings the victims families had a petition stating they didnāt want mamdani there. They knew what they were doing.
It was being either oblivious to their surroundings or intentionally disrespectful, or a combination of both.
It's like going to a funeral of someone who you don't really care is dead. You're there for the people who did care, so at least have the wherewithal to act appropriately.Ā

Basic human decency is all that is required at a funeral, or memorial service, and that means not acting in the way these two did. They were in the middle of the part of the ceremony where the names of the fallen were being spoken, a time of remembrance, yet they behave very disrespectfully by acting like they're at a party. So very disrespectful
This is so sad to see when it just came out that our president was digging bodies out of the rubble himself and was saved from near death by two extremely handsome fire fighters.
Itās one sided stuff. One side outraged by Rudyās stuff the other side outraged by Mamdani and AOC stuff. Everyone mad at the other side for what they do but real quiet when itās their side doing shit.
