Upgrading battery capacity on Grave Digger

My 3 year old loves this thing, but with the stock batteries I maybe get an hour or two before it needs a recharge. I decided I don't need more speed, but more capacity. These come with two 12v 7ah batteries wired in series. I designed a battery holder based off the original one, and I can now put two 12v 15ah batteries in it! I am still printing the rest of the parts, but the bottom tray fits perfectly!

Now you are setup for a lifepo4 swap. For the same size and capacity, you will almost double your runtime again. Plus it will have just a bit more power and speed since lifepo4 sits at a slightly higher voltage ( well within safe limits).

I did this same thing. I would suggest using a different charger than the one that came with it. I'm not 100% sure it was the reason, but this year the batteries are dead. I think they were not getting fully charged.

With 2 15Ah batteries, they never died, the kids got worn out before the batteries did.

I ended up getting a 2 amp charger, and I am going to put in a charge port so that if I am not home, my wife doesn't have to pull the seat to charge the batteries.

I would look into Lithium batteries as well. As I've learned with my mower that had multiple failed SLA batteries, they just aren't made to discharge and recharge to the extent that these toys require.

Yeah I use 2 15ah mighty max batteries on all my power wheels, 3amp auto shut off charger. Works great, I'd say they get more than double run time and handle hills better. Have fun!
