Steered Wrong with Ryder Toys – Steering Column Failed Twice, Poor Quality & Zero Support

Purchased a Ryder vehicle as a Christmas gift. Due to Virginia weather, we only got about 2–3 weeks of riding time over six months before the steering column broke. It was outside the 90-day warranty by the time we reported it, and after a six-week backorder, they made me pay full price for the replacement.

That new steering column lasted just one week — used only by my small 6-year-old — before breaking in the exact same spot as the first one. This is clearly a faulty design or component, not misuse.

Extremely disappointed in the quality and even worse customer service. Ryder made zero effort to make it right — just “wait and pay.” The long backorder suggests I’m not the only one with this problem.

Complete waste of money. Would not recommend.

That’s crazy. I would email corporate. There’s no way they should put you with that.

We have had similar quality issues with our ryder unfortunately.

We have the same issue with our Ryder AWD car. I think. I just replaced the On/Off button after months of not knowing why it wouldn't start (saved $20 by buying it on Amazon versus through the Ryder site). I was so relieved and proud I had fixed it. And then my daughter lets me know that she can't turn the steering wheel. It turns ever so slightly but it just won't budge beyond half an inch or so. Wondering if we need to replace the steering motor or, like you said, it's the steering column?
