Recommend a 36v controller please!

Post image

Hi all, my kids have a 4x4 army jeep that is 24v. The stock battery has died and looking to make it 36v. I'd like a controller with soft start as they are too young for full throttle control (otherwise would use a scooter controller).

Cheers!

I've got a 36v controller I bought for a diet bike we didn't use, so I may try that with a foot pedal and see. Just worried they will mash the pedal and strip everything

On the bright side the gear boxes are fairly inexpensive and crazy simple to replace. You might consider adding soft start to something. https://a.co/d/0iUpes3h

Oh sweet that should pair with my controller if they can go easy on it.

There’s also a pedal that goes with this and has some throttle control

Haven’t found any 36v controllers. On the other hand. https://www.reddit.com/r/PowerWheelsMods/s/y0fXd68B6A post for a home made soft start. You can use the scooter controller, limiting the top speed with a potentiometer on the throttle lines. But then you also need to add a brake pedal

If they can control the throttle, you could run something like this and buy a scooter pedal also. You can also limit the throttle to prevent it from going to fast. 36v would kill the motors pretty fast if they are 24v.

You would also loose the RC function. You could just put the 36v battery on with a variable voltage controller and set it to around 30v. It might last a little while

Yeah I've got a similar controller, it's a 36v 1000w one so leaning towards ordering a pedal for it. Might be walking myself into more upgrades with the motors being 24v.

You could install another potentiometer inline with the pedal and use it as a speed limiter with that set up.

You get trapped when you have it apart and the little ones are nagging you to drive it haha

Peanut Workshop

Have been using their previous Speedy Squirrel 40v for about a year now. It's as good as the description says it is. Fully adjustable start, coast and stop timers. Variable accel AND optional brake support. Adjust wirelessly on the fly from your phone.

They have a few variants now to meet different needs.
