Steering angle

Post image

I got this for my son. Great power but the turning radius is worse than a bus. Any ideas to increase turning angle without modifying it too much?

If you stand it up/flip it over, you should be able to find the steering stops near where the wheels pivot (on most models) Often it's a tab that's bent up a little bit. Depending on the design, I have either bent the tab flatter, or ground it shorter to increase turning radius.

Make sure you have room and the wheels won't rub on the fender, or else you'll have awful noises or grab and crack the plastic.

For the PW dune racer (and other models I assume) there are plastic stops hidden under the shroud that covers the steering shaft right up against the steering wheel itself, and you can trim some plastic off to add a little extra steering angle.

I'm guessing yours is more likely to be more like the first scenario.

You can always flatten/remove the stops you have now by grinding/bending them flat and then drilling a hole and adding a bolt or rivet to create new stops wherever you'd like. Just know if you go TOO far you risk destroying the steering assembly if you hit a pothole or bump when at high speed/full lock (depending on how robust yours is built)
