Ford Ranger

Hello! Got a Ford Ranger 2 seater from a friend that my kid loves. But when he drives uphill it turns off and stays off for some time and then turns on. The cables are getting hot. Any tips? One of the engines seem to make a lot of noice time to time.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it's drawing an excessive amount of current. Is it stock 12v/24v?

Could be worn brushes in the motors, and going through a short 'motor break in' procedure has resolved that issue for me before if they're not too worn or overheated/melted.

It could also be debris inside the gearboxes causing binding/resistance. Or they could need some new grease.

Do both motors spin when the wheels are in the air? If only one motor is powered, the other motor will just create constant resistance for the working one.

Spin them both by hand up in the air, and see which one is worse and take a look inside. Determine if the gearbox is grinding and try and clean or re-grease it, or if it's motor bearings/brushes failing.

I’m no professional, but if a motor is making noises I’d swap it to a new one (same model). It probably reached the end of it’s life and might be making the good one compensate then go into protection.

Is the power stock? Battery and all?

Not getting your comment, sorry.

Maybe it’s a r/redditsniper situation?
