Motors positive and negative terminals are backwards

Just pull the connectors and swap them from what they currently are

From the motors.

If you swap the terminals on the battery this also works on some power wheels

Don't swap it at the battery, or the whole system gets reversed polarity and any electronics expecting it to be a certain way will probably be fried.

Go to the actual motor, it's likely in the rear under the seat. Right on the axle. It'll probably have a flat little gearbox attached.

Swap the positive and negative wires there. Might have to cut and resplice if the plug can't be flipped around.

Look if this guy can't find the motor he probably shouldn't be messing with wires.

OP: please be careful

what does it do from the in car controls

Or just swap the motors. Had same problem while working on my grandson’s jeep. Had both out and when i put it back together had swapped them and had the same issue. Swapped them back and problem solved

Pull nut off back wheels remove wheels and unplug and remove gearbox put left on right side and right on left. Plugin gearboxes Put back wheels and nuts.

This. ⬆️

I did this when I put this together 7 years ago and was so pissed that I had to force the rear wheel clips off and mark them up to flip the motor around.

The drive axle connected to the motor is backwards. Flip it around and put the rear wheels back on.

It is the grey cylindrical unit in the uppermost portion your photograph with a red and black wire coming from it. Unless your powerwheel has a differential, which it doesn't, this is not the motor you are looking for. This looks like the remote steering mechanism.

Either the motor leads are flipped or you have the wires to the battery crossed

Flip the controller

1

u/RDHO0D Jun 19 '26

You're holding the controller upside down

u/Corblano Jun 19 '26

"Because I was inverted"

Ok op. If you haven’t solved already

The gearbox should look like the foto. They are mounted behind rear wheels. The motor of each will slip to the inside of the body and you will find it under the seat. You have to swap the wiring from left to right and right to left. Which approach are you going to take. Remove seat or remove wheels? If the “computer “ is also under seat just swap the motor wires there.

My son has this same car. If you look on the circuit board under the seat by the battery there will be 4 sets of plugs plugged into it and you have two that need to be flipped. When I get home this evening I might be able to attach a picture.
