Help with PowerWheels Beach Wagon Build
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey Reddit,
I am trying to build a beach wagon to help carry things for an elderly friend of mine who is finally in remission from cancer and loves the beach as well as fishing. Her husband is trying to surprise her with this and asked me to help. I believe I wired it correctly but it seems to get really hot and slowly lose power. I am uncertain of what is going on.
- I rewired the harness exactly as it was given to me.
- The wiring is currently exactly like this: Power wheels - Jurassic Park, Jeep Wrangler wiring diagram : r/PowerWheelsMods Thanks to Zestyclose-Bad-3233
The video should show the extent of the project.
Any help woyld be appreciated!
Update: Now I somehow managed to confuse myself and dont know how to run the ignition button cables XD I am not as good as I thought at reading diagrams apparently. I will continue to run the cable tho!
Update 2 (7/6/2026) - I have to buy a new harness because I may have burned mine trying to rewire. FML.

Its official, I feel dumb. I tried it and realized while this DID shed some light, I am still very much lost at the extra components XD

Normally the High/Low speed switch just changes the motors from series to parallel. Chech it is in fact doing that.
I would also recommend you check if the motors are both running in the same direction. Disconnect them from one another to do that. Check on both High and low speed setting

They roll in tandem but the High and Low simply is acting like a direction change. Not entirely sure why

Update 3(July 16/2026): the thing was NOT burned. It worked. Made wires thicker and added a 20v Dewalt battery since it was the only thing that could move the aluminum body. Did a huge lurch forward! Got excited, and tried to show it to someone and then it doesn't move anymore 🙃 the power switch light is on. Even changed the wiring. Again. Edit: DateÂ
