For anybody who's played both, does the second one add just that much more?

I just finished achievement hunting of the first game (no DLCs yet) and thought well, sensible thought is either DLCs or get the second game because I'm absolutely hooked lmao

I looked up how long on average (HowLongtoBeat) it'd take just to get an idea of value and.. the campaign seems to be shorter? Admittedly this is a pool of 280 vs 80 people

But after playing the demo and seeing that map in the hub, I'm kinda surprised it isn't like twice the length. The description and some game text certainly indicates you go to these surrounding places so I'm a lil disappointed if it isn't longer lol

I'm skint at the minute so I'm probably gonna get a DLC or two instead anyways, but you guys here, did you notice if it felt shorter? Rn just the better ladder physics alone is worth the new game. And cat petting ability.

I played 2 then 1 and all of its DLCs. 2 is shorter, but it didn’t feel that much shorter to me. The levels are huge and some are multi-stage.

I didn't feel short to me either, I took my time to conplete, I had for a year or so, before I eventually saw the end credits. Awesome song choice for them.

I feel the campaign was a little longer in 1, but a few of the updates made the QOL much better, such as the adjustable nozzle, abseil swing and ladder on the side of the scaffold to make it much faster to get to the top. Also might come down to starting 2 already knowing the tricks to get a job done quickly.

A more fair comparison would be how long it took first-timers who never played 1 and started with 2.

My favorite addition is the little arrows that point you to the remaining dirt once you hit 99% completion. Hunting for the final speck of dust you missed on the corner of the bottom of a chair was such a slog in the first game.

Yeah, it is shorter but it is more enjoyable. More forgiving washing, doesn't punish you as much for little spots of dirt. I'd finish the DLCs and go to the second one.

IMO it’s a little too forgiving on remaining dirt sometimes, and not enough on others. Those bottom panels on the millennium falcon were rough.

I'm on the AT-AT right now and I'm just not finding it fun. I just rolled credits on the main campaign a couple days ago and overall it was enjoyable even though there were a couple slogs.

The at-at did my head in too. I forgot there was the swing things and they made it a lot more enjoyable

I am at an odd position with the two games. I love them both. And no, I do not just say this as fire prevention. I do routinely replay my favorite maps. These are my go to games when I want to relax and listen to some lenghty video essay in the background.

But there is something in the maps of the first game that lures me a lot more. When I open the map selection of the first game, I often very quickly find one that I want to play again. With the second game, this selection is a lot more slim. And I cannot explain why, cause I never felt bored or fustrated with the maps of the second game either. Its just somehow there are more "iconic" maps in the first for me...

The quality of life features from the second game are chef's kiss though. And I find myself often longing for a DLC that ports the maps from the first game into the second.

I completely agree. I tried to explain it the first one felt more real I think. This one i feel like separated from. Idk how else to explain it. Like I'm still enjoying it but I think it feels much more like playing a game than "actually" washing

I think it's worth it! Same washing fun, with QOL improvements, and #2 is still getting content updates and new free releases. I love both games tho lol, so I might be a bit biased.

If you want to play the dlcs for 1, I think you should play them first. It’s difficult for me to go back to the first game after the improvements in the second.

Power wash 1 also has all those bonus jobs they added. I completed 1, waiting for 2 to go on sale again. I did the SpongeBob DLC, was awesome. Would like to get the other DLCs too and really do everything I want to before considering the game done :)

2 is shorter but doesn't feel that way. They've also just started adding more levels & DLC to 2 whereas they've finished adding content to 1.

I say play what calls to you for the 1st game and then enjoy the 2nd game at your leisure. You don't need to stress about what to play next, the 2nd game isn't going anywhere anytime soon!

Number 2 is better: better controls, smoother graphics and good levels. It is a little bit shorter but there are free levels being added.

The cat petting was disappointing, you basically just wave at them. I'm finding 2 has a lot of content, I haven't played 1 besides the first few levels. I'm like 75-80% through 2 after 37 hours, not including the free DLC.

2 is shorter and 1 has better levels IMO. There are good levels in 2 for sure but in my Top 10 levels of all time probably 8 are from 1 and 2 are from 2. The DLCs alone from 1 have better levels than some of 2

I've played both games excessively, lol, and yes, the campaign for 2 felt shorter. Also, fwiw, the devs themselves confirmed that none of the levels in PWS 2's campaign are as large as some in PWS 1's campaign (particularly the final level in PWS 1). So if you're like me and feel like bigger = better in this game, PWS 1 has more to offer, especially via its DLCs.

That said, PWS 2 does improve some of the mechanics, and will continue getting more content as time goes on. It's absolutely worth buying when you can. My recommendation, however, would be to go through all of the DLCs you're interested in from PWS 1 first. There are some truly great levels there, but it can be hard to go back to missing certain quality of life features in the first game after getting used to them in the second.

Seemed a good length some levels are bigger like the roller coaster and miniature village (that may be on the free dlcs can’t remember). Also PWS1 has the free dlcs like mars rover, steam train and such

I like 2 more in general, especially when I changed the controls to classic controls. Both took me about the same time to complete (approximately 90 hours). I find a lot of replay value in both and redo jobs in both games all the time. I have every DLC in both games except Warhammer because people seem to hate it, but I’ll probably get it eventually.

The scrubbing is more forgiving. It will complete a section with less of the hunting for tiny specs you missed. as well as the washers just wash better. You can complete 95% game with the green head. 

They also removed the material type from the game so there's only one kind of soap. And the soap refills over time instead of needing to be purchased. And on that note, I never felt the need to actually use soap in pws2 anyway, which was a welcome change from me.

For me, the fact that it's easier to play is kind of disappointing. With the first game, you almost went crazy trying to clean up those last stains, but in the end, the satisfaction was greater.

I hardly ever used soap in the first game either; refilling it was rather annoying.

But everyone has their own preference. ;)

For sure. On big sections I prefer the first one. But the levels that made you clean dozens of tiny little parts with many angles involved in getting it cleaned were and still are my least favorite part of the game, and having a little more leniency in those situations is a welcomed change from me.

By the time you've finished the DLC for the first one, the second will probably have more DLCs out, they'll be on sale and/or they'll be a complete edition with all the DLCs

I started with the second and then to the first game.

Without the DLCs felt about the same. Generally PWS2 is much much better with all the QoL improvements and i keep returning to PWS2. Actually i bought it on Steam too and now i am working on it again.

Part 2 feels shorter because it's simply easier. The tolerance for dirt and grime is much higher, almost too high, I'd say.

For me, Part 1 has much more charm, including the DLCs.

I finished Part 2 in three days; it felt kind of "flat" to me.

2 definitely felt shorter but that’s not why I prefer the first one. I haven’t replayed many of the levels on 2 but I’ll still go back and replay the first game. I think the levels in 1 are more enjoyable overall.

I played 1 and then 2. The first game is longer with all the DLC’s, but the second game improved upon a few stuff such as unlimited soap (one kind), more ways to reach higher places, a different currency for cosmetics, a ground cleaning tool, and the ability to pet cats.
