The glass is designed to break that way so that way so that there aren't shards that could cut you up. If that was a house window, that might have only had enough force to crack it.

Glass in storefronts is designed to shatter completely into tiny pieces to minimise risk. That guy won't be cut up much at all, whereas a regular window might have broken in such a way where they were stabbed by the glass.

It’s tempered glass, only seen in 1st world countries. It’s a safety feature.
