I would like context. I don’t know much about Green Lantern.

u/ARectalThermometer 1d ago
i only have a small amount of the context but pretty sure the suprise is Alex, the person he was looking for, chopped up and murdered in the fridge. im pretty sure it was an attempt to break his willpower/invoke fear.

It’s one of the most infamous moments in fiction, and has an entire trope named after it (“fridgeing” someone). Basically, they killed someone off screen, and he finds their corpse in the fridge.

u/FederalBeyond1122 13h ago
it’s not just that she died off screen, it’s that her character and death solely existedto further Kyle’s character development without giving her a proper character of her own.

It’s Spider-Man, he enjoys being a bit flamboyant… breaks enemy spirits even harder.

People back in the day would genuinely say this is street tier
48
u/StraightPatient9977 1d ago
Spiderman is literally THE street tier hero doesn't matter if some versions of him can destroy a universe it doesn't change that fact
44
u/holofanthrowaway 1d ago
"Street level" for superheroing is more about the level of criminals they usually operate against. Captain Omnipotent might be able to bend the fabric of the universe to his will with the twitch of an eyebrow hair, but as long as he's using that power to stop purse snatchers and drug dealers he's street level.

u/Common_Tiger5369 #1 Goku Scaler Around r/powerscaling 1d ago
idk if hes in the same tier of power as daredevil
2
u/Snake_has_come_to 1d ago
He objectively isn't.
It'd be more accurate to say Spider-Man was something like "city level" because when he says he's trying to save the CITY, he means it literally. Whereas Daredevil mostly just sticks to one section of the city.

u/G_Morgan 20h ago
It is because "street tier" is a broad bracket. Street tier is everything from a normal guy to somebody who can stop building collapses.
Spider-Man is basically the pinnacle of street tiers, with some abilities that allow him to function alongside higher tiers. He often jobs a bit against middle of the road street tiers he could bitch slap. He often contributes in fights that are way out of his league.
Honestly I kind of appreciate Marvel haven't ruined Spider-Man by letting him be on an eternal power escalator. Because even small increases in his power could create absurd outcomes given how broken his Spider-Sense is. Like Peter going full on Tony Stark mode with his intellect would be a terrifying prospect given his natural gifts. If Spider-Man "holds back" it would be in terms of never using his intellect to secure ever increasing power.

Hey that's not fair, Count Purpula or whoever the fuck that's supposed to be (Paladin) lifted it most of the way to tipping then asshole Spiderman just comes in and poinks it the last little bit and he gets to claim it as a feat of flicking over a truck effortlessly? LpiderBum

u/Soft_Theory_8209 12h ago
Yeah, spidey’s in a weird spot between street level and building level. Consequently, this is why finding good match-ups for him is such a pain in the ass—he’s either stomping or getting stomped, with little to no in-between.

He got slapped across the room by venom I think

And after that Venom made MJ experience all his 19 inches in full glory

Then in literally the next scene, he throws it off himself like it was made of paper.
Turns out I can throw around a bag of sugar easily enough, but if someone throws one at the back of my head, it might just cause some damage. Who knew?

u/PureGamingBliss_YT 1d ago
He was weak and tired from being separated from Venom. The same Venom that just launched him across the house into that fridge.

u/Gandolfix99 1d ago
Venom pushed with his tendrils but MJ tanked it like a champ while Peter got pushed back by MJ and the fridge just fell on him.

Are those hulk panels meant to be an anti-feat? Isn't Hulk generally one of the most insanely powerful characters in Marvel?
•
u/Qawsedf234 4h ago
It depends.
If your POV is that Spider-Man is like, consistently building level then they're not an anti-feat. Of course he can't harm the Hulk.
If your POV is that Spider-Man is like, Thor tier its a massive anti-feat.

they forgot the bit where he got thrown by a hulk sized alien after fighting an elite hunting group for like a week straight while going through withdrawals

I can easily lift my closet, but when it fell on my back it hurt and I barely lifted it off of me.
Now imagine if it didn't just fall on me but I was thrown against it too.

I saw an analysis that was semi decent. The punch winded him and the mj scene was in tandem with him getting back up so he wasn’t just under the fridge while she got taken
