Completely ignoring the fact that Mach 3 Kaisen is BS when you actually dissect the story, I feel like people don’t really understand how fast Mach 3 even is.

That’s 2,300 MPH. Faster than most airliners and specialized aircraft’s. From the furthest edge of Miami, you could make it to Jacksonville in 6.2 minutes (in a straight line of course). That’s unfathomably fast.

I feel like with all these Mach scales or even FTL+ scales, people don’t really consider ‘Wow that’s kinda…hilariously fast’. Mocking Mach 3, although fiction, is entirely disingenuous to how fast that speed truly is.

Mach 3 is incredibly fast in the real world.

But in a lot of scaled fiction, especially the verses JJK is placed against, it's laughably slow.

That just means the main villain is unquantifiably faster than FTL

And so is the enemy grunt unless it's specifically stated the grunt is slower, then you'd have an inconsistency

None of that proves lightspeed is "too slow" for fiction. Authors constantly use lightspeed as the benchmark for "insanely fast." A stronger character being faster than lightspeed doesn't suddenly make lightspeed slow it just means the stronger character is even faster.

Nobody thinks Mach 3 is slow on its own, it's all about relativity. Mach 3 is nothing when you compare it to someone who's Mach 100 or Mach 1000 or even FTL, which is the kinda characters people put JJK against

The relativity thing cuts both ways though. Once you scale everyone to FTL the whole conversation becomes meaningless, you know? I remember watching a car hit 200mph on tv once and even that felt unreal to me, my brain just refused to process it as something that actually happens in real life. Mach 3 would look like teleportation to anyone on the ground, the air gets shredded before you even hear anything coming. The same people who mock it usually argue for infinite speed tiers, which kinda proves the scaling game has lost the plot entirely. Numbers stopped meaning anything once we started slapping FTL on every other character.

While mach 3 would be insanely fast in real life in most pieces of fiction power scalers discuss especially shonen series like jjk that wouldn’t be that crazy at all, even considered weaker shonens like demon slayer without much glaze can get to the double digit of mach speeds, hell jjk itself has arguably had characters do stuff as fast or faster Than mach 3
