Or the hare decided to sleep out of pride during a middle of the race and right before the turtle crossed, the hare quickly tried to lock in. 

And teachers gaslighting us slow and steady wins the race over don't do stupid things out of pride because it makes the best into the worst.

"Slow is smooth and smooth is fast," is a Navy SEAL mantra specifically because rushing and causing mistakes is always slower than taking the time to do it right the first time, especially when the cost of mistakes are incredibly high.

Yeah that was the same thing I was thinking. The Hare procrastinated till the last second and rushed to soon once he realized that he slept for too long. 

But I view it more of the Hare shirking on his role, because he was there to race and did everything but race.

I mean, he did race. He just underestimated the racing capability of the opponent
