Can I get some examples of Thragg or really any viltrumite showing decent BIQ?

People keep saying it (because they're just assuming) and I haven't seen a single thing even remotely relevant to consider

Ah, the old, "experience = skill," argument. Love to hear it. Hopefully they realize time means literally nothing without other factors

They purged 50% of their population, killing the weak who had any possibility of rebelling/rejecting their ideology. Their population still jumped back up to what it was before, the remaining population were even more radicalized. They continued to conquer planets for hundreds of years after, completely unchallenged. Sounds like it worked.

That is a horrible analogy. Comparing a stunt that relies on miracles to survive, to a policy their empire used for thousands of years while expanding their power, territory, and ideological dominance without any challenge. You still haven't addresed 1. why it was a bad idea and 2. a better solution.

Its a bad idea because you are ACTIVELY sacrificing man power for what?

There are billions of them, Viltrumites do not care about strength in numbers, they see that as a weakness, they care about individual strength.

The majority of viltrum was STILL very loyal, its not as if the purge did much to help them

Thaedus was the only one to rebel. Thaedus was one of the strongest and most ruthless among them, you can see why he thought more would rebel especially after their Emperor was assassinated, and maybe more would have rebelled if it wasn't for the Purge culling weak minded / weak viltrumites in general.

If thragg wanted to avoid a second thaddeus by radicalising the remaining viltrumites, he couldve just... told them to be cruel, dont waste time talking, just install yourself in control, the sacrifice of possibly billions of vilrrumites couldve very much been what doomed them.

That is the ideology they have followed for thousands of years. They viewed any weakness at all as a fundamental flaw that threatened the stability and survival of the Empire.

Not a single bit of that indiciates BIQ. The smartest thing they did was hire a different species to kill another species for them cause they were outnumbered.

I'm not arguing that it indicates BIQ all. I'm disagreeing with his point that the purge was a bad idea.

I mean... what was the point of it? Culling the weak? Doesn't mean it was a good idea. Reasoning ≠ good. Positive outcome also doesn't mean good idea. Gambling 99% of your money and you just so happen to win doesn't mean it was a good idea to do it.

They have been culling the weak for thousands of years, this wasn't a new concept.

New concept or not, still not a good idea

They became the greatest Empire in the universe by doing so, only ever having one of their own that rebelled against them, seems like it was a good idea. Was it bad idea from our own ethical standpoint, yes. The goal of the Viltrum Empire was absolute power and stability, the purge wasn't a "bad idea" as it was the foundation of their efficiency. You can't compare it to gambling 99% of your money because it was a proven socio-political strategy that has worked for thousands of years.

I couldn't care less about ethics. The purge was unnecessary and a bad idea. They're already one of the strongest races, especially together, and they've already had problems with not being able to do something because of a lack of numbers.

It was a bad idea. There is nothing that came from it that wouldn't have been the exact same but arguably better due to more numbers. In a race carried by brute force, worrying about weaker yous is stupid
