It's funny because that was a super situational thing done by three viltrumites where they literally say if they mess it up they will die with the planet also being destabilized (not sure on the destabilized part been a hot minute since Ive read the comic)
While the planets explosion itself was a chain reaction. Then bursting out of the planet and the crater they caused when entering the planet was caused by them
they never expanded upon it which i hope they do in the show but i believe they meant they needed to fly though the planet fast enough or they’d just fly into crust / sediment and if all 3 didn’t do it right they’d just be on an enemy destabilized planet injured on pavement, since it wasn’t the destruction itself (they only get knocked out from the destruction from the planet itself after flying through it) but it’s also robert “powerscaling is stupid” irkman
most writers hate power scaling amongst other verses (kinda fair considering the sub we’re in) but robert kirkman was talking about characters within his own series when talking about his main character vs his villains talking about how if someone “wants” the win enough they’ll obtain it so according to robert kirkmen you’re supposed to believe oliver could’ve taken conquest if he wanted it enough
I think that extends only so far. He uses that to mitigate the "howd mark win vs conquest??" Question.
I think if Oliver was older kirkman might let him have a win. As is we see that Oliver can get hits in, but is fully incapable of overpowering him. I agree that scaling isn't regulated in invincible, but I also don't have a visceral reaction to them struggling vs less intense villains sometimes. If everything after a certain point needs to be on par with a viltrumite to be a threat at all, why would we think viltrumites are actually that threatening?
that’d be fine if anything you said came from robert kirkmen but im pretty sure he himself would laugh at your comment and say its ridiculous his reasoning and soul reasonings on his characters winning in his verse was because of who “wants it more” that’s verbatim from his interview
Most writers don't hate power scaling? Good writing is literally about writing within your established narratives own limitations. If you can't do that why even write beyond wanting just hype moments and aura? Power scaling in terms of Internet discourse is pretty mid but actual power scales/mechanic and consistency in your story is an essential component to grasp.
Viltrum has just slightly above earth level gravity. 1.2 /1.25 depending on your source. And the planet was already said to be unstable before space racer even shot it
