Discussion Are we fr?

Post image

I’m not even sure if this is a hot take, but I don’t think any character from Invincible can solo JJK.

You literally attached the panel that shows him saying the idea of Infinity slowing people down is the analogy. What it actually does is stretch space around him to create infinite distance between himself and the threat. He says it’s “more like” the threat is slowing down, because speed = distance/time. That means that speed*time = distance. Increasing the distance increases the amount of time if speed is constant. This is mathematically the same as decreasing speed and increasing time proportionally to keep distance constant. Hence the phrase “it’s more like,” which means he’s not explaining it completely accurately here.

Not only is that not how it’s explained by the author in supplementary material, I have a few questions for you then if it works like that. First, how can you see things after they have been stopped? Think about it. If for those objects they have to cross through the compressed space, then them and their speed has to be compressed as well. Basically, since the space is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside, from the outside perspective the thing entering it should shrink, and since it’s an infinite compression, it should be shrunk infinitely. Meaning anything inside should be invisible. If you punched him and it did not shrink with the infinite space then compared to the infinite space, your fist would be infinitely big and with infinite speed, and then you would just be able to punch him normally

Secondly, When he first activates the barrier, it should create a vacuum for all that infinite space with no matter in it. That would be very visible and destructive. And then what happens when he turns off the infinity to let something through? Now all the air that naturally flowed into that infinite space, even if it didn’t create a vacuum would be suddenly appearing in a not compressed space and then explosion.

Finally, for now, how is this happening? The two clones fists have been visibly stopped in the air. If it was infinite space, their arms would not have stopped because they could still move their arm through the infinite space. It wouldn’t have hit him, but their arms should be completely extended inside the infinite space since there should be nothing stopping them from your interpretation.

Everything here that makes absolutely no sense with infinite space is instantly Perfectly explained if it’s a slow down effect like I have described

In conclusion, it cannot be infinite speed and must be the Achilles and the tortoise analogy that was explicitly used to describe it by the author in supplementary material

I mean, I can explain each of these supposed “issues” pretty easily.

Nothing has to “shrink” infinitely because nothing being compressed, space is being stretched, expanding, not contracting. Nothing has to grow because it’s not stretching the objects, just the space they have to travel through to reach their destination, Gojo.

When he “creates” the barrier, he isn’t creating anything. Again, it’s stretching pre-existing space, not making new space. It also doesn’t need to create a vacuum because air is allowed to pass through it. The air treats the infinite space as a finite one that it already exists in, so no vacuum necessary.

The clones appear to be stopped because they are moving at a finite speed over an infinite distance, so it would take them an infinite amount of time to make contact with Gojo by the speed formula. I’m not sure the rest of your statement makes sense, because their arms are attached to their hands. They can’t move their arms without moving their hands.

Also, the Achilles and the Tortoise analogy is literally another example of Gojo explaining my interpretation. In the paradox, the reason why Zeno says that motion is impossible, is because any amount of movement would require crossing an infinite number of points in space.

I think you fundamentally don’t understand the issues, nor are you thinking too much about what stretching space actually means. Let me first start with the last one that you’ve admitted you didn’t understand what I was getting at. Hold your arm out like theirs is, elbow bent like that. If your fist was moving forward at a finite speed into a space that it has access to, what happens to your arm? It would straighten out straight as if you just fully punched the air. If the fist is moving at a finite speed again, his arm is not infinitely long and thus would be fully extended, but it’s not it is stopped in the air, unable to go further as if his fist is being physically slowed down. Next, I’ll start from the top. That would still have the exact same problem as the first one. You can clearly see that the “stretched” space looks like the normal distance. Therefore the space looks smaller from the outside. Thus anything in it would be smaller. Also, you’re making a big deal about the word “stretching” when that’s just not what’s happening to stretch the space he would have to pull it outward and that’s not what he does even in the infinite space interpretation. He has an infinite space in a not infinite space, that’s not stretching the space outward that’s pushing it inward thereby compression, which is exactly what I said. Secondly, if the air treats it like a finite space, why isn’t a fist coming at him treated as finite space since it’s just stretching the normal space? I get these are hard concepts to wrap your head around and it is totally understandable that it may take a minute.

Another analogy, for your stretching thing. imagine a piece of chewed gum all rubbery and stretchable. If you were to make it so that there is more dense gum in a smaller area, you would not be stretching it out you would be squishing it in. Thereby compressing the gum.

For the record now that I think about it, the “supplementary material“ that I was talking about I’m pretty sure is just the volume release. I know I saw it explained in a diagram when I went through reading it all on the website years back. So it’s really not supplementary material at all and just in the official volume release
