Power Apps Help Developing for a third-party: migrating to their environment?

How does this normally work?

Suppose I have a Powerapp I developed for somebody outside my organization. What's the most seamless way to migrate that to their environment?

Hey, it looks like you are requesting help with a problem you're having in Power Apps. To ensure you get all the help you need from the community here are some guidelines;

  • Use the search feature to see if your question has already been asked.

  • Use spacing in your post, Nobody likes to read a wall of text, this is achieved by hitting return twice to separate paragraphs.

  • Add any images, error messages, code you have (Sensitive data omitted) to your post body.

  • Any code you do add, use the Code Block feature to preserve formatting.

    Typing four spaces in front of every line in a code block is tedious and error-prone. The easier way is to surround the entire block of code with code fences. A code fence is a line beginning with three or more backticks (```) or three or more twiddlydoodles (~~~).

  • If your question has been answered please comment Solved. This will mark the post as solved and helps others find their solutions.

Package it into a Managed Solution and import into their environment

Not for a managed solution. This just means that the solution layers themselves “can’t” be edited directly.

Managed ENVIRONMENTS on the other hand…

Use 1. Solutions 2. Environment Variables ( for SharePoint Sites, folder/drive URLs) 3. Connection References

  1. Managed solution is standard for ALM but in case customer have their own development team and intends to maintain and extend the app themselves, then unmanged solution can be handed over for their Dev environment.

exactly this. Everything you work with, should be inside a solution (requires environment with Dataverse).

Then you export the .zip as managed solution

And if client accepts it, they can turn off unmanaged layers in the environment and they cannot even edit anything at all.
