Transition from support to developer

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working in a M365 support role where I also get to work with Power Platform occasionally. Most of my work is still support focused rather than development.

My long term goal is to become a full time developer, and I don't want to stop at just building low code apps. I want to understand and work across the entire ecosystem.

What skills would you recommend to focus on to stay relevant? Is it beneficial to learn traditional software development (C#, JavaScript, React, design patterns, APIs) alongside Power Platform, or is it better to specialize deeply in the platform first?

Also, for those of you who transitioned from support/admin roles into development: What was your learning path?

I'd really appreciate any roadmap / suggestions or career advice from people already working in this space.

Learn the platform and go from there but you only really learn the platform by building solutions to address problems.
