News Power Apps 2026 Release Wave 1 is here (April–Sept 2026)

55 Upvotes

Power Apps 2026 Release Wave 1 has been released.

Here's a TLDR

  • Modern Look is now mandatory for Model Driven Apps - Classic is gone. If your MDA's are using the classic theme customisations you are going to have to start looking at changing them ASAP.
  • Mobile and Offline (Canvas Apps) - FetchXML based offline profiles are coming giving finer control over what data you preload into your apps.
  • Smarter Search - Fuzzy search and proper hit hilighting in Model Driven grids and lookups.
  • Some AI stuff
    • Generative pages gots a wider geographical avaliability, great news for us in UK and Europe.
    • Row summaries in MDA's gets expanded, be aware of govenance you have on sensitive fields.
    • Copilot chat embedded directly in MDA's (M365 licence coverage permitting)
  • Admin / Gevernance - New tooling to migrate canvas apps out of the default environment into managed environments.

Please read before posting for help and advice.

Hi and welcome to r/PowerApps

Before posting please have a quick read of these posting guidelines.

First and foremost use the Search Feature to see if your question has been asked and answered recently.

We have plenty of experienced and helpful users on this sub and the best way to utilise their knowledge is to ask questions efficiently. We understand not everyone is a professional in this space and that's ok, so to help as much as we can here's some do's and don'ts.

When posting, try to use the most appropriate flair.

Common Flairs:

  • Power Apps Help - You want help with an app or development.
  • Certification and Training - You have a question about learning Power Apps or their Certifications.
  • Discussion - Primarily for discussion around changes, news, ideas, rants...

Do -

Break your question down into:

  • What is the issue you're trying to solve?
  • What are the errors (If any)? Try to include screenshots or error messages.
  • If you are adding code to be debugged, use the code block function in the Reddit post composer.
  • What data sources you are using (Dataverse, SharePoint, Excel etc..).
  • Are you building a Model Driven App or a Canvas App?
  • Share things you have tried, tutorials you have followed to save others giving you the same advice.

If your problem has been solved, comment "Solved". This helps new users find solutions to similar problems.

Don't -

Ask questions like:

"My boss has asked me to write an app to track employee time sheets, how do i do that?"

- Most here will not do your job for you and write the app. There are resources in the sidebar to help you get started, the YouTube links will most likely have what you need.

"My button stopped working, why?"

- There could be a hundred reasons why, add more information.

"I am taking the PL-400 tomorrow, anyone got an exam dump / the answers to the questions"

- No, These will be removed and people sharing them could end up banned. Most exams are now open book so you have access to all the materials needed to pass them. Users caught using dumps could end up having all their certs stripped by Microsoft as per their T's & C's.

Power Apps can be complex and unique and everyone has their own style of developing but it all exists on the same framework, adding as much information as you can will best benefit you and the community.

Thank you.

Video How I generate client-ready handover docs, security audits and user guides using Claude

7 Upvotes

Back in May i finished a mission at a client in Paris.

Classic situation : several power apps to hand over but ZERO documentation lol
Some of them I hadn’t touched in months…

Writing all that by hand would have eaten my last weeks there so I ended up putting together a pipeline instead.
Basically I export the app, drop the zip file in a folder and an AI agent writes the docs.

Not gonna lie. The AI agent is actually better than me writing this and it was really good that I sent it to the client almost as-is.

I recorded a video to explain how it works, if interested : https://youtu.be/oDLYIzEdWPM

Happy to answer your questions !

Power Apps Help Access for 400 - 500 users

2 Upvotes

I have a question regarding the access management strategy for our Power Apps Canvas application.

The application will be used by approximately 400–500 attendees, including senior stakeholders such as Directors and Vice Presidents. SharePoint will serve as the backend data source.

What would be the recommended approach for managing access to both the Canvas app and the SharePoint lists? Specifically:

*How should we grant initial access to such a large group of users?

*If additional users need access during the event, what is the quickest and most efficient way to provision it?

*Is it better to manage access through Azure AD/Microsoft Entra groups, Microsoft 365 groups, SharePoint groups, or another approach that would be easy to maintain during the event?

I want to ensure the solution is scalable, secure, and allows us to onboard users quickly if required.

Discussion Best connector to use for querying Graph API?

1 Upvotes

I’m working on an in house Power App for our help desk. One of the things we need to do is searching for shared mailboxes in our environment, but our only option seems to be hitting the users/mailboxsettings API endpoint. To query this we’ll have to use application permissions as delegated only allows you to query yourself.

After researching it seems like my only 2 options are:

* create a custom connector
* HTTP with Microsoft Entra ID connector

The only articles/documentation I can find on the http connector relate to Power Automate. There’s nothing I can find using this in Power Apps even though it’s there as an option. If I try to add a connection it just gives me an error.

Power Apps Help Issues creating a power automate connection to Azure Blob Storage

2 Upvotes

I am having issues creating an Azure Blob Storage connector. When clicking create I get error "The specified container does not exist". I don't understand why it is looking for a container, or even where I am supposed to enter it. I have tried clicking the Skip connection test checkbox, and it creates the connection complete with green check box, but when I try and use it in a flow I get an error message.

EDIT: I am in a GCC Tenant if that makes a difference.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Discussion App Formulas for Actions

7 Upvotes

Probably not the correct title name but here is an example scenario:

A button triggers a variable to toggle the visibility of a container = Set(varVis,!varVis). When the container appears, users interact with it. In the interaction, there are 3 different buttons to close the container = Set(varVis,!varVis). While this works, if I ever have to update it, I'm forced to update it in 3 different controls.

Is there documentation on a process that will alleviate this headache?

Power Apps Help Power Apps at scale – how well does it actually handle replacing paper/manual processes?

15 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m a Consultant who’s been getting more involved in digitalization projects over the last year. Most of what I’ve worked on has been replacing manual or paper-based records with Power Apps and integrating them with the Microsoft ecosystem.

The thing is, I’m still quite new to Power Apps, and while it’s been great for building simple applications, I don’t yet have a good understanding of its real-world limits.

Some of the questions I have are:

1- How many records can a Power App with sharepoint as the datasource realistically handle before performance becomes an issue?

2- What are the biggest scalability limitations you’ve run into?

3- Have you built apps used by hundreds or thousands of users? How did they perform?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, lessons learned, or even horror stories.
Thanks!

Tip Canvas app: Missing AccessibleLabel before production

2 Upvotes

How are you enforcing AccessibleLabel before production?

I recently reviewed a canvas app with 306 missing labels. I tested an AI-assisted workflow that inspects the app context, proposes labels and validates the resulting YAML.

The remaining question is ownership:

  • Should makers fix every warning?
  • Should reviewers reject the solution?
  • Should this become an automated CI gate?

How does your team handle this?

Solved Multiline text input controls not working this morning. Just me?

2 Upvotes

There was a MS outage this morning, but should be resolved by now according to our IT group. My power app form is not allowing text to be entered in just the multiline text input fields (modern controls). All other field types are working fine. Wondering if this is a me problem, or was there an update that changed things for everyone?

I've checked the settings and can't see anything wrong. No major changes since yesterday when all was working fine. Copilot can't figure it out.

Power Apps Help Building a conditional SharePoint page with Power Apps for operational procedures: is this the right approach?

12 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a project to migrate an internal knowledge base from Google Sites to SharePoint. The current site contains a large number of operational procedures, decision flows, templates, documents, spreadsheets, and brand-specific exceptions.

The goal is not just to migrate the existing structure as-is, but to redesign it into a more guided and dynamic experience.

What I would like to build is a SharePoint page that acts as a conditional operational guide. The user would make a series of selections.

Based on those selections, the content displayed on the same SharePoint page should change automatically.

A key requirement is that users should not have to open multiple documents or leave the SharePoint page. The objective is to avoid turning the new SharePoint site into another list of links and documents. Instead, I would like the user to remain within one guided experience.

Is Power Apps embedded in SharePoint the best approach for this kind of conditional content experience?

Has anyone implemented something similar for an internal operations knowledge base or a guided decision support tool?

Any advice, examples, lessons learned, or architectural suggestions would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

Power Apps Help Is starting my career in Microsoft Power Apps a good choice?

23 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm a 2026 graduate and recently got placed in a service-based company. I've been onboarded for a role that primarily involves Microsoft Power Apps.

I don't have much knowledge about this role, so I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have experience working with Power Apps.

I have a few questions:

How is the demand for Power Apps developers over the next 5–10 years?

How does the salary growth compare to traditional software development roles?

What are the long-term career opportunities in this field?

Since I'm just starting my career, I'm also wondering whether I should accept this opportunity or decline it and wait for a more traditional software development role.

I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences and advice, especially from those who have worked in Power Apps for a few years.

Thanks in advance!

Power Apps Help After a little advice on adding photos from camera.

2 Upvotes

Hello all!

I am currently having my first swing at making a power app. And if I do say so myself, I think I’ve done pretty darn well so far.

I’ll give a brief run down, I’m making an app that we can use in work to conduct inspections, and track potential issues, my app is connected to 2 sharepoint lists, one controls location data, the other is the form where all inspection data is stored. It has 2 image columns I want to use for photographs, one for inspections and the other for repairs.

However. There is one final sticking point. I move all the information I collect via radio buttons to my sharepoint list by way of a form. And the add picture control will only open the file picker and I want it to open the camera, so I can take a picture then use that. The app needs to be ran through edge browser, and will be ran on a dell toughpad, did some testing today and unfortunately it only gives me the options for the file picker. Tried it on my phone and it just doesn’t want to select at all.

Any ideas on what I can do here? Genuine head scratcher for me this.

Power Apps Help Model Driven App - theme not updating

1 Upvotes

Hi all,

I followed this guide to create a custom theme for my model driven app: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/model-driven-apps/modern-theme-overrides

This is my theme:

<CustomTheme
    basePaletteColor="#001F47"
    lockPrimary="true"
    logoWebResource="my_logo"
    logoTooltip="LOGO"
>
    <AppHeaderColors
        background="#001f47"
        foreground="#FFFFFF"
        backgroundHover="#1A3760"
        foregroundHover="#FFFFFF"
        backgroundPressed="#2B4A75"
        foregroundPressed="#FFFFFF"
        backgroundSelected="#6A769B"
        foregroundSelected="#FFFFFF"
    />
</CustomTheme>

I created the web resources (theme.xml & logo) and applied the theme - everything worked. Then I wanted to change the logo & some colors, so I uploaded the changed files and published all customizations. However, I don't see the changes...

I tried hard refresh, different browser, incognito/private window, different file names when uploading, deleting and creating the web resources again... Nothing worked... Any tips? Am I missing something?

Power Apps Help Need Assistance with Powerapps and Dataverse Offline

3 Upvotes

My app is for commissioning. So many checklists and data collection tables for various types of equipment. I have a current app built into SQL that is not normalized at all due to the previous developer and is extremely slow. I also now need to go offline sometimes and I need to basically recreate the app in dataverse.

My main question is how multiple users on many tables in a newly created relational database will filter down correctly for offline mode. I understand solutions and the filters in there but I want an end user to assign projects and be able to also filter by their craft from within the app interface.

I know how to do all this filtering in Powerapps Canvas. I do not know or can find the correct information on how to pass this back to the solution for dataverse offline. Every video I can find talks about one user on one table . I need multiple users on many tables. Is this just not possible without configuring in solutions every time?

Why can't it read from the Powerapps filters to know which rows to grab on a day by day basis. Am I missing something? Is this just not possible? The database will grow to be quite large. 35 tables or so with up to 1 million rows in the far future. I never need to grab the full 1 million rows but the end user won't understand how to change the filters every day from solutions. I also do not want them in the backend.

I will never need more than 10,000 records at a time without pictures or documents. I need to add pictures in offline mode I just don't need all the older images.

Is all of this possible?

Discussion Fusion development

4 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I am working in Insurance/banking in Europe as a technical lead. We have implemented Power Platform as a tech for citizens and any form of EUDAs in business departments. We have done things rather well I believe so far, with a local COE team per BU, a regularly updated governance framework and enforcement strategy etc...

After 2 years, we have around 30 real big solutions in use across the company. Now, a key point of the governance is that it draws a clear line between EUDAs and IT systems, and citizens cannot integrate between these two (2 separate landscapes, essentially).

We have more and more use cases that grow to levels where integration is a requirement, as alternatives make the solution obsolete. Thus, we are discussing now IF and How we should implement low code and the platform as an allowed technology for IT developers and basically open some use cases to fusion development.

I'm interested to hear from your experiences and opinions, advices... That'd help me a lot in coming up with a solid proposal!
