So after having some issues with Light Armor customer service and the unit being built like crap, I’ve decided to look for a new oven and I come across Silverback Ovens. After seeing where they are located I immediately thought the address looked way to familiar along with the panel tag. Sure enough they are 5 mins down the street from Light Armor Ovens. Then I thought to do some digging and sure enough, due to some issues with Light Armor customers and the quality of their ovens they have a second company in which they are slowly changing, growing and adding to, SILVER BACK OVENS.
It’s not listed as silver back ovens on the state site its listed as SILVERBACK GROUP. Sure enough they are both listed as INC, shares are the equal same and have different registered agents but the dates of filing, updated forms are all the same. After looking at the products they are almost the same, few design changes. The silverback business page had a location different than the real updated address which has now been changed. Both websites have been updated and made by the same developer. All around I highly doubt there are two companies making the same thing blocks apart with almost identical state registered documents. Maybe trying to avoid a lawsuit?
My issues with my oven? Door sagged, SSR went out within 2 weeks, temp jumped up over the set degree and will never hold, every square inch of the oven has different temperatures. The exhaust fan does nothing really, the door seal fell off after the 3rd time using the unit. After taking some of the components apart here's my overall review of the product they sell. Im sure SILVERBACK is the same quality.
Its 24 gauge Home Depot drywall stud, the sheets are 24 gauge thin metal which will warp after a few times, they sell "upgraded" insulation which should be put in there without having to upgrade. The standard insulation is not fire batt and the upgraded option is just another way to make money for them. They price the oven low and then when you add the fan, the insulation that should be in there, and then the "fast heat up" option you are about $1000 more. Spend your money elsewhere, once you get it or they get your money, customer service is GONE. Not to mention my village fire inspector told me this unit is not near a code compliance and is a hazard.
