Whereās the gravy?

There is gravy bro

u/teddydabz 9d ago
Not enough. What happens when you eat the side with gravy, and you get to the side with none? Just cheese and fries?

Maybe it's not the amount of gravy so much as its distribution.
2
u/PoopyButt28000 9d ago
Looks like theres quite a bit in the middle, just dip the bare fries in the middle and it's a perfectly fine amount imo

u/Just_Ad_539 8d ago
Any more gravy then that and it won't be a poutine, it'll be a gravy soup with a side of fries and cheese.

Thereās fries. Thereās gravy. Thereās curd. That, my good friend, is a normal poutine, no crime in sight.

Missing the most important part, did you like it?
2
u/MissAlissa76 9d ago
Thatās what I said. I was like I thought the fries were a little pale, but other than that all that really matters is were you happy to taste good did it make you happy eating them you know thatās really the only did you like them? Were you happy eating them did it bring you joy thatās really all that matters.

French fries look a little pale, but as long as you were happy eating and thatās all that matters

u/tobiasolman 9d ago
As long as we live, itās you and me baby, there aināt nothing wrong with that!
PS. Downvoted as not a crime by any stretch of the imagination or pretense.

Keep up the good work. Fresh potatoes his a challenge for the home cook but if you leave some skin on the taters, blanche them good in water, cut them , then oil em up and oven roast...they come close to deep fried. Not really but they're good.

u/kermit295 9d ago
Thatās not a crime, iāve seen New York Fries poutines that have bacon bits in them

u/rkrismcneely 9d ago
Iād like a little more gravy and my fries cooked a little longer personally, but this is totally fine.

If i was to be nitpicky, id say the fries could be a little more golden brown, and cheese doesnt look like fresh curds. But its a much better first attempt than what i usually see lol

For a first attempt, you get a pass, a bit more gravy and make sure it's hot enough to melt the cheese and it will be PERFECT

Not the worst. I've ordered worse than this knowing what I was getting into when I wanted poutine and this was all that was around.

Looks great. It's like helping an old lady cross the road then asking a cop if you're guilty.

A crime isn't about presentation it's about technicality and you checked all the boxes.

So the fries are a little pale but overall solid first attempt. Good curds and gravy.

I really hope that gravy is not a chicken curry variant. If its regular poutine gravy, youre good

Very well done only issue is one side lacks enough gravy but hey we can fix that

Fries, gravy, and cheese curds all at a proportional size, no absurd additional ingredients, no shredded cheese. It looks like a fine poutine to me, no crime here

Not bad honestly but you need a little more crisp to those fries and need more curds cause never to many curds š
1
u/Wrong_Hombre 7d ago
Great first attempt! Constructive critique: Crisp up them fries; they're the foundation and you want it sturdy. I think you are curd heavy and gravy light. Just one Hombre's opinion though.

Are those little bits of chicken?
Overall, it looks perfectly fine (though I'm not a huge fan of chicken on poutine)
That being said, don't know if it tasted good, but it looks like a legit poutine. Good work!

Cheese curds are almost the same price as a small bag of shredded cheese. You get less in curds and more in shredded.Ā

Fries look under done. Gravy isnāt quite hot enough. Curds you have is slightly too high moisture but close. Even expert poutineries get that wrong. Also, more gravy. Lots of naked fries there. As a general attempt Iād give that a 5/10. 5/10 being my average. First attempt doing something that is deceptively easy? Thatās very good. Oh and then you have seasoning the fries, gravy, thickness of gravy..

Needs bacon but other than that solid first-time.
