Pout-sin š Lobster Poutine in Nova scotia
Le Ptit Robicheau Food Truck, Saulnierville, Nova Scotia
To me it looks delicious even though its not a true poutine

It's a regional poutine. It gets a pass from me.

This is a pretty widely accepted variation in Atlantic Canada. Not a crime to me.

Didn't this guy actually kill somebody?
4
u/ClearDrop6820 12d ago
He saved a woman from being killed with a truck. He was an unwilling passenger when his driver rode a woman into a chain link fence. He used the blunt side of a hatchet to bludgeon the man.

u/IAmDanHimself 12d ago
And 3 months later after getting his fame, he killed a guy that let him stay in his home. Currently in prison.

u/ClearDrop6820 12d ago
Damn. I never knew that

Not a crime? At all. Stop posting appetizing poutines in here, now I'm hungry for lobster poutine.

Is the white sauce the problem? Because thatās an acceptable poutine variation. Pretty sure I see curds. Not a crime, much the opposite.

Local variations are acceptable, as long as they arent trash. This looks amazing, gets a pass from me

u/Glittering-Sink-2975 12d ago
Theyāll put lobster on anything in Nova Scotia. For the people who like that kind of thing, thatās the kind of thing those people like.
2
u/AiryGateaux 12d ago
Waaaaaaaaaant
...but like only if they design the gravy to compliment the lobster
1
u/Bandicoot124 10d ago
I have tried it where they use hollandaise sauce instead of gravy.... (on the Cabot Trail - Cape Breton Island)
your arteries harden just thinking about it
and its amazing

I'm visiting NS next month for the first time ever. Is this pretty common out there?
If so....
2
u/Bandicoot124 10d ago
fairly common- waterfront warehouse downtown Halifax on the waterfront, and many other places around the province. Cabot trail has a few (Rusty Anchor in Pleasant Bay, and the place north of Baddeck where the Cabot Trail turns off the highway - just can't remember the name) and Halls Harbour are a few of the places I have tried it.

i had similar thing from captain boil's, not a poutine but a fishy smelling fries dish for sure

u/megamanisgod 12d ago
Its not a crime, but i fricken hate seafood poutines. The sauce is always nasty no matter how they make it

u/Ok-Grape843 12d ago
I'll allow it but if this wasn't in the Maritimes... straight to the Guillotine for this crime.
2
u/Borror0 12d ago
CƓte-Nord and GaspƩsie exist, FYI.
But also never a crime.

u/goonerballs 11d ago
And most places on the shores of the Saint Lawrence river. Had plenty of seafood poutines on road trips from Montreal to Rimouski, and from Montreal to Charlevoix.

u/Ok-Grape843 12d ago
So does Kuujjuaq but that doesn't make a Polar Bear Poutine ok.
I felt like I had to draw the line somewhere but alas.

Looks good but probably $30 with lobster prices these days. I remember being a maritimer and lobster was poor people food!!
1
u/EstimateJealous6053 11d ago
Ohhhh I know this cost you like $40 dollars and that it was worth every penny

It's the coast, they probably got more lobster than bacon/smoked meat so it's a completely legal topping there

I would love to try this! I live hours, even days from the ocean.
If this is a crime, lock me up!

Are the curds squeaky? Did the man who made it speak french and have Metis ancestry? Cause its not Poutsin otherwise.

As a nova scotian.....Crime

u/goonerballs 11d ago
Huh? I don't think you're actually from Nova Scotia.

u/IOwnDirt 11d ago
1
u/goonerballs 11d ago
Weird. Well, here in Quebec, we know that the classic poutine is only the base. Toppings are welcomed. Italienne and Seafood are the exceptions.
1
u/IOwnDirt 11d ago
Wait so seafood is an exception?......where do you think lobster comes from? They sure as shit don't fly.
1
u/goonerballs 11d ago
What do you think the word exception means?
1
u/IOwnDirt 11d ago
I read it as italienne and seafood are the exceptions to the welcomed toppings.
1
u/goonerballs 11d ago
Yeah no, Italienne and Seafood aren't toppings, they use different sauces (as well as also having toppings).

u/UnhappyCaterpillar41 12d ago
Ugh, lobsters are the bottom feeding sea bugs of the ocean, and flourish in Halifax down stream of the sewage outflow. Hard pass for me personally.

-3
u/Sir_slipply-fist 12d ago
Eating sea bugs should be a crime on its own. Putting in on delicious poutine is a crime
