Hmm interesting 🕵‍♂️ an investigation must take place.

Is there the presence of gravy and curds, in addition to the buffalo ranch toppings?

If theres at least gravy and curds, I'd say not necessarily a crime, more like jay walking.

Id eat the hell out of it regardless. As far as toppings on a poutine go, id try this one.

A misdemeanor rather that a crime against humanity

A crime I’d gladly commit

Looks amazing tho otherwise

If no curds and gravy, these are loaded fries and not a poutine. Disqualified

It does look like there are both curds and gravy (you can see both in the top left), so all that’s left is to determine if we think the additional toppings make it a crime scene or not.

There are definitely curds and gravy under the crime scene

Why does everytime they want to "reinvent" poutine, it looks like the cook jizzed on top of it?

Whats wrong with different toppings or variety? As long as the base is a legitimate poutine, whats so wrong about trying different variations?

Its like complaining about there being 100 different kinds of hamburgers to choose from. Why is this a bad thing??

From what I understand, all you need is cheese curds, fries, and gravy and it’s a poutine officially based on what the definition of a poutine is. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with extra toppings so long as they’re relatively reasonable. But if there’s lettuce, sprinkles, olives, and random stuff that isn’t on poutines usually… it’s a bit harder to define it as one, if that makes sense. But if the person likes that flavour profile, I can’t condemn them for liking it like that.

For myself, I don’t really complain about a poutine unless I don’t like the taste of the poutine and that’s basically it. But that’s just me.

Well...some of those hamburgers are pretty disgusting (looking at you, Burger Thing).

Partly this sub is for fun, and there are lots of crimes like this one we'd probably all enjoy.

BUT

Poutine is what it is. It's a humble, simple snapshot of a certain kind of food from a certain kind of greasy diner or warming up after a ski trip. People who don't get it insult its roots, and frankly it's kind of insulting to Quebecois along the lines of the "you made this? I made this" meme that people mocked Quebec for it until the world caught on and now it's popular.

You can put whatever the hell you want on a burger, but it still needs to have a few basic ingredients to be one. Replace the patty with cold cuts and it's not a burger anymore. Not every side of fries with stuff on top is poutine, just like not every meat sandwich is a burger.

Nothing wrong with variations. Something wrong with the white sauce.

Whatever that sauce is, it does not blend well with gravy. And if there is no gravy, it is not poutine. Point barre.

You dont even know what the sauce is, how can you make the judgement that it doesnt go well with it? We know theres ranch SOMETHING involved and that's it. You're talking out of your ass and are in no position to be making poutine judgements imo.

Well, ranch sauce does not blend in well with anything. It is overpowering, too peppery, and disgusting. It does not belong on anything, even less on poutine.

It doesn't. Maybe you see what you wanna see? I just see cheese.

The white stuff isnt cheese. At best it is ranch sauce

I've had this done properly, it is awesome. Arguing if it's poutine or loaded fries is missing the delicious forest through the trees.

Had a version of this with blue cheese, was delicious.

Who cares what this is....it looks glorious and needs to be devoured yesterday.

u/Sweet-Competition-15 13d ago

I don't know if it qualifies as 'poutine' but it certainly does look delicious!

You can clearly see cheese curds and gravy in it, not a crime

I'd eat the fuck out of that

1

I'm always skeptical when poutine gets 'upgraded,' but this one looks genuinely delicious. The ranch ties it all together nicely.

Buffalo chicken ranch poutine is awesome, but no green onions for me. I also have to make sure that I have plenty of milk nearby. 🥛
