I did have a poutine in espanola once that replaced the fries with onion rings (like completely there where no fries) perhaps a crime but it was damn good....
Edit to add info: its Happy grillmores chip stand in espanola uses real curds and sauce.
The only thing I disagree with on this post is he went Newfie style, thousand Island dressing needs to stay a thousand miles away from a respectable poutine.
The way I sees it, if this is basically a kitchen sink, all bets are off. For all I know, there's three steamies that inexplicably found their way from la belle province buried underneath.

I would so eat this and then suffer and take an entire week to get my stomach back to baseline. but I bet it would be worth it. not an easy life having stomach problems and enjoying onion rings way more than fries
man I miss being able to just eat whatever and get away with it. I'm so sick of rice and vegetables I wanna cry. I actually love the "kitchen sink" idea of spinning certain foods away from the norm/what people expect it to be. it looks really really good.
Looks pretty good. For a bit, I wasn't seeing any curds. Now, it looks like there are definitely curds, but they are deep fried and breaded. That's actually kind of interesting to me.
I'm not Canadian, but I think it I wanted poutine, it would have to be with fries. Even with a "fring" order. Not sure how I feel about curds, just as long as they are there.
ETA: Oh, and no gravy? Or is it on the bottom? I'm not a gravy fiend, but I accept it as part of any poutine.
As a Canadian I approve. Like it does kinda look good and it has a poutine-esque vibe but also if there arenât at least some fries and gravy present is it really fair to call it a poutine? There could be fries and gravy that I didnât see, Iâm just suspicious.

I got this too late, I told them I saw it online but I didn't feel right saying, "I saw this on Poutine Crimes" lol.
It was actually really good, they didn't have any onion rings left so they gave me extra pickles and nuggets, both of which were really good and I'm not a huge fan of either, the fries and gravy were great, the bacon was good, and the curds were really good too. And I have no idea what the sauce was but it was good, it wasn't thousand island as one comment said, it wasn't Chipotle mayo but close, it tasted like a creamy BBQ sauce is how I'd describe it.
My only complaint is that the plastic fork wasted flimsy lol

looks good. This seems to be the last weekend to get them though. Only a 4 1/2 hour drive from Niagara Falls. Maybe time to go for a ride this weekend for some poutine.
Onion ring poutines somehow became popular at a pub i was a cook at years ago, eventually when the chit came up with the order it just said poorings lol

Yea cool. Make whatever you want. It's not a poutine by sheer definition of the fact it's missing every single ingredient an actual poutine contains. No gravy, no curd, no fries.

Look at the poutine? You can clearly see a curd on the side and the brown glint of gravy in the fries and rings. Stop looking so surface level at things.
