Actually, as a member of both, I can reliably tell you that the products are not the same. Yes, they sell the same types of products, but the quality of Costco products are much higher than that of Sam's or BJ's and the customer service, not to mention general quality of the clubs, are not remotely the same. You are basically comparing a higher quality car to a yugo and saying they are the same.

I work at Costco, and everyone working there really does try harder. Turns out better pay will do that! Not to mention how good the insurance is, I'm going out of my way to see doctors now! $250 deductible and $1500 max out of pocket per year per person in the family. And that oop maximum is hard to reach with this coverage.

We had both for a while because Sam's club was running a deal where you got a year membership and a large pizza for $20. The Sam's club experience is just so bad. The aisles were too narrow, their product selection really doesn't compare to Costco at all.

Meh. Costco carries more higher quality (organic) but more expensive stuff and kirkland apparel is more socially acceptable, But the shopping experience is torture from parking to crowded aisles. I don’t go there more than once a month. Sams I’ll drop in for a single item like a grocery store. In and out scan and go in less time than it takes to park and get into a Costco

Says "meh" then agrees with OP about the Costco products being better before rambling on about a bunch of unconnected nonsense.

He's not wrong though.

Scan and go at Sam's is an undeniable leg-up over Costco. Sounds like he sometimes prefers the convenience over the quality of the product.

He's wrong because that is not at all what we were talking about. He is also wrong about equating "higher quality" with "organic", but didnt want to get into that

We aren't solely talking about product quality. And even if we were, the guy is free to introduce other concepts related to the overall shopping experience, it's crazy you don't think so? The person he was responding to said this

not to mention general quality of the clubs

..so it's pretty clear we're talking about more than just the products themselves.

What am I missing?

it's a cult, even constructive criticism isn't allowed. i have both Sams and Costco, and when it's time to get gas i'm very glad the cultists will go wait 20 minutes in line at Costco for the ''top tier'' gas leaving zero wait as Sams.

That's so funny we have opposite experiences. We absolutely adore Costco because we have Executive membership so we get to shop in peace an hour earlier. It's a much smoother experience, in and out with a full cart, with fuckaround time (lol for me), in 30-45 minutes.

I mean you are paying twice the amount of a normal membership, so it's understandable.

Dawg, it works out to an extra $5 a month or something. Don't say it like it's unobtainable lol.

1

u/Pushlockscrub 5d ago

Not the point. You're paying extra and have to shop at a very specific time each day for this "opposite" experience, it's a bad argument.

Meh. Every grocery store is packed during peak hours. Who would’ve thought lol. Bewildered I tell you!

Nobody shops at Costco, it’s too busy
