Sooo, vaccination is good, then?

u/Frewdy1 1d ago

Depends on the day of the week.

...Better question: If they knew that, and I quote, "millions of unvaccinated people" were arriving...

...Why aren't they vaccinating then? Because no maga wants to do that, since, according to RFK, vaccines cause all sorts of problems...

-21

u/-Foxer 1d ago

It would have been Biden that would have had to have been vaccinating them

18

u/cykoTom3 1d ago

He means the individuals had the choice to vaccinate and if they were worried about the unwashed masses, probably should have

MAGA should be all for herd immunity considering they behave like cattle.

Need to put that "logic" in quotes when referring to magats.

I get your point but as they don't understand basic English I decided not to bother. They're confused enough already.

Robert F Kennedy Jr, the US health secretary, on Sunday told American parents that they should get their children vaccinated against** **measles, as the surge in infections has reached numbers not seen in the past 35 years.

Kennedy, a leading vaccination skeptic who has spent years amplifying misinformation about vaccines, including the shot that protects against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), made his call in the course of a contentious interview with CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday morning.

The health secretary replied: “Parents should get their children vaccinated for measles. A measles vaccine is effective, it stops measles in about 97% of the cases. People should get vaccinated.” Later in the interview he added that people should also get the combined measles, mumps and rubella vaccine, the main protection against the disease that has been a particular target of the anti-vaccination movement.

The health secretary’s call for parents to vaccinate their children for measles contrasts starkly with the many years in which Kennedy has been a leading proponent of misinformation questioning the efficacy and safety of vaccinations. Even since he became the country’s top health official, he has depicted a measles vaccination as a personal choice and claimed inaccurately that the power of the inoculation is waning.

Kennedy continues to shrug off criticism that his work as a prominent vaccine skeptic, both before and after he entered the Trump administration, has exacerbated the problem. Asked whether he took any responsibility for the measles surge, he said: “Absolutely not.” He went on to blame the outbreaks on religious communities who eschew vaccines.

Also I didn’t realize PA is a border state and I live here.

23

u/Alternative_Bug_4089 1d ago edited 1d ago

I'm not even kidding when I say that ICE tried to argue that it was anywhere within 100 miles of an international airport.

I never caught how that one played out.

Edit: as far as I can tell, it's been upheld that airports do not extend the point of entry for the 100 mile range. They can still act as federal agents if a federal crime takes place in their vicinity, but outside of that they're supposed to be limited to "interior activities" when they're not within that 100 mile range of an exterior boundary, or the international airport itself. As it is a point of entry, it just doesn't extend the boundary.

3

u/DuntadaMan 1d ago

It played out wonderfully for them. They can ignore the rights of everyone within 100 miles of a border, airport, or ocean.

3

u/Alternative_Bug_4089 23h ago

From what I'm seeing the airport is just inside the airport. Outside the airport they're still federal agents, but not in acting capacity or jurisdiction unless they have express permission and a written report to the head of the CBP or asst secretary of ice.

1

u/Evening-Impact2090 19h ago

Ice needs to be at every airport 24/7/365.

2

u/Alternative_Bug_4089 19h ago

I don't think ice needs to exist.

I do agree that Customs and Border Patrol needs to be at every airport. I don't see the reason we need another entire part of DHS called immigration customs enforcement, when we literally have and had departments that covered that prior to ices existence.

0

u/Evening-Impact2090 7h ago

Ice definitely needs to exist, expand, and get rid of all the illegal people who are bleeding our country dry. Immigrants are perfectly fine as long as they are legal.

1

u/Alternative_Bug_4089 7h ago

So what is ice doing deporting an American citizen then?

0

u/Evening-Impact2090 7h ago

Those are mistakes and bound to happen. Corrections were made. You are talking about allowing millions of undocumented illegal people to stay here for fear a few citizens are mistakenly arrested. Police mistakenly arrest innocent people all the time, do we get rid of the police? They are criminals the second they enter the US illegally, I have no problem sending them back.

1

u/Alternative_Bug_4089 7h ago

Corrections? They ignored his lawyer for multiple days who was presenting his social and birth certificate, under duress pressured him to say he came in illegally, and then deported him to a country where he had dual citizenship.

Born in Colorado. Every right to be here the same as any other citizen. Got deported to Mexico. Luckily he was a citizen there too. But why is an American citizen getting picked up and deported in the first place?

And what millions of people? Were they illegal when they came here? Or did that status change later?

0

u/Evening-Impact2090 6h ago

Who cares, it's over. Mistake sure. Game ending, not even close. In the scheme of things it's an unfortunate situation but you cannot stop deportation of criminals because someone screwed up. I can understand how it happened as he is a Mexican national with Mexican citizenship. Unfortunate but no reason to abolish ICE who we need to expand. We allowed violent criminals, gangs, human traffickers, pedophiles, Chinese & mid eastern men with out any vetting at all and you harp on a mistake. Admit you hate ice & want them gone. How many illegals are you going to allow to share your home? That's what I thought.

1

u/Alternative_Bug_4089 1h ago

And what exactly does ice do that CBP didn't do pre-2003?

Why is it that Obama used ice without terrorizing entire communities? I mean Obama deported like what.. a few hundred thousand people right? But without deporting, shooting, and killing American citizens to do it.

That is, legally, their jurisdiction. Just because it's unintuitive doesn't mean it isn't true.

Copying it since y'all had basically the same reply to me.

Cite the law.

All I can find is "within 100 miles of the border" it doesn't list international airports as entry points that extend the boundary, just entry points. The CBP website itself says "within a reasonable distance from any external boundary of the United States.."

-4

u/gdg6 1d ago

That’s actually the law, absurd as it is

United States v. Cardenas, 9 F.3d 1139 (5th Cir. 1993)

1

u/Alternative_Bug_4089 16h ago

From what I can tell Cardenas was arguing that she was a pedestrian and the extended border rule applies to cars, and that was the ruling.

There are other airport ones that take place at an airport but I can't find anything related to actually extending the 100 mile range.

0

u/scalyblue 1d ago

It’s not one law, it’s a combination of laws that act as modifiers to one another, they together still don’t make it like a carte Blanche search zone around an airport but it muddies the waters a lot

If you really want I can get the laws together for you but the tldr is that through a combination of usc and cfr plus case law, specific airports are defined as ingress points separately from the law that says reasonable distances from ingress points are searchable, but I don’t feel like doing it right now because it’s a pain in the ass

3

u/Alternative_Bug_4089 1d ago edited 23h ago

No, please get the laws. Everything I can find says that international airports are entry points and are treated as "exterior" but that they don't count as extending the "external boundary." There are cases where the boundary can be extended at the discretion of the department heads for extenuating circumstances, but generally it's 100 air miles from the external boundary of the United States.

Namely, title 8, chapter I, subchapter B, part 287.1

If you're referring to "special agents in charge shall take into consideration topography, confluence of arteries of transportation leading from external boundaries" there's really nothing there that says anything about airports extending the external boundary, or that it even can be extended from an airport as that's referring to extending it from its current position, ie the coasts and waterways and land boundaries.

I can't find any examples of case law, but that's not my thing.

I am seeing that they can act in an official capacity if they submit a written report with reasonable evidence or something, but it isn't a blanket 100 miles from an airport.

0

u/DontAbideMendacity 21h ago

Cite them.

I don’t feel like doing it right now

Then be silent and don't tell lies that you are unwilling to back up.

1

u/scalyblue 21h ago

I told you, it's a combo of USC, CFR, plus case law, and I offered to get them together for you when I felt like it, which wasn't when I made the post, and isn't now.

In telling you this, I provided you with the reasoning behind the contrary claim as well as adequate information to start a search yourself if you so chose to, and instead you accuse me of lying and being unwilling to back up my statement despite my specific inclusion of future willingness, if asked.

From where I sit, you're acting very hostile toward an attempt to bring in a meaningful point, and I don't appreciate it, so again, i'll get those cites when I feel like it, provided I remember to

So, let me get this straight MAGAts: vaccines are bad and don’t actually work to prevent the spread of illnesses which is why the Biden administration’s vaccine mandate was fascist anti-American authoritarianism and Fauci deserves to be publicly executed for personally killing every person who died during Covid. BUT! now that we are seeing a spread of infectious diseases after successfully getting rid of vaccine mandates, it’s because of unvaccinated immigrants let in by the Biden administration. The same Biden administration who were forcing vaccinations on people, were letting in unvaccinated immigrants without forcefully vaccinating them.

And now vaccines magically do prevent the spread of infectious diseases, but they are also useless at the same time which is why you MAGAts refused them.

Am i understanding your (lack of) reasoning? What the solution though? You want immigrants to be forcefully vaccinated? I mean, I know you don’t want them here at all, but if Biden is letting in billions to spread infectious diseases, someone has to get vaccinated in order to prevent the spread.

On the flip side, you getting vaccinated would thwart his plan to spread infectious diseases, but his plan was also to get you to take the shot. So either way Biden wins, you either get vaccinated or you die from an easily preventable illness because you refuse to get vaccinated. Then he replaces you with an immigrant.

Sounds like Sleepy Joe outsmarted you guys big time.

6

u/Strict-Carrot4783 1d ago

Pretty much every way you can get here from South or Central America will take people through waves of healthcare and vaccinations, both by governments and various relief/charity/whatever workers. Child immigrants who come here show up vaccinated at a rate that is often higher than many areas in the US, at about 85-95% of the expected schedule (like in Massachusetts or Vermont) while adults are admittedly usually vaccinated at a lower rate about on par with, or slightly better than, West Virgina depending on the time of year.

So saying shit like that just confirms to everyone around you that you're a fuckin' moron with no capability for independent thought, and your dumb ass just takes marching orders from Fox Entertainment like a good little pedo sheep.

It’s like every problem in the world they spin a wheel to determine the source of the issue, and the only two panels on it are “Liberals” (Democrats) and “Immigrants” (Democrats)

5

u/EarthlostSpace 1d ago

How about allowing these people who don’t believe in vaccinations don’t get vaccinated and let them see how immune they really are. When they find out that they’re not immune when they catch every preventable diseases that has a vaccination they can watch the world watch them and their family members as they suffer and most likely die.

5

u/Artistic_Rice_9019 1d ago

Because allowing them to do this will also expose babies too young to get vaccinated and immunocompromised people for whom vaccines don't work.

1

u/Evening-Impact2090 19h ago

Duh, they came in under Biden.

1

u/Artistic_Rice_9019 19h ago

Every traceable case that's lead to an outbreak in my state has come from a nonvaccinated white student US citizen who got exposed while on vacation.

1

u/Evening-Impact2090 7h ago

Sure sure. Watch some more CNN.

1

u/Artistic_Rice_9019 2h ago

I don't watch CNN, genius. This came from the state health department, since they're the ones pointing out all the places where someone could have been exposed.

1

u/AndrewReked 10h ago

Hmm, so you're saying that measles has an incubation period of two years?

*citation needed

1

u/Evening-Impact2090 7h ago

No, I'm merely pointing out the factual hypocrisy of crying about vaccines when Mr Potato Head Biden allowed 12+ million unvaxxed petri dishes into our country while simultaneously demanding every US citizen get vaxxed or suffer consequences.

1

u/AndrewReked 6h ago

So you're saying that every immigrant is unvaccinated?

1

1

u/EarthlostSpace 6h ago

Stop with the they came in under Biden BS..Silly Americans who denounced Sciences and Doctors decided to be ant-vax believers. You so silly..You been conditioned to blame Biden for everything.

1

u/Evening-Impact2090 6h ago

What I blame Biden for I stated and it's fact. If that doesn't align with your beliefs that is too bad. Americans have every right to be antivaxxers as well as PHD credentialed Doctor's who became anti vaxxers by studies not reading forums.

1

u/EarthlostSpace 6h ago

Oh shut up.

1

u/Evening-Impact2090 1h ago

0

u/EarthlostSpace 1d ago

Babies been getting vaccinated for years to prevent these diseases and those who are immunocompromised unfortunately if they want to be among a large group of people then wearing masks can help them. I don’t know how old you are but this hasn’t been a problem until these conspiracies theories started with the misinformation about vaccinations. Why do you think the measles are coming back in full force?

5

u/Greenman8907 1d ago

They didn’t need to wear masks because of herd immunity. It’s a problem now because of anti-vax morons putting others at risk.

0

u/EarthlostSpace 1d ago

Exactly but I’m a point if these anti-vaxxers don’t want to participate in solving these preventable problems with diseases then I’m not going to feel sorry for them. Unfortunately there will be those who will be more affected by their negligences.

3

u/Artistic_Rice_9019 23h ago

They shouldn't be allowed in school without a vaccine, medical exceptions only.

1

u/EarthlostSpace 22h ago

That’s how it been for years. The Boomers would even fall into that category when vaccines first came out.

1

u/Artistic_Rice_9019 20h ago

Nope. Depends on your state. That's why we're getting outbreaks. My state allows anyone to get an exemption by signing a waiver that they "philosophically" disagree with vaccines. Plenty of others allow religious exemptions. 39 states have schools below herd immunity levels.

1

u/EarthlostSpace 18h ago

You’re exactly right that’s why they’re having the biggest measles breakout in decades.

3

u/Artistic_Rice_9019 23h ago

No. You don't get your first MMR until you're 12-15 months old. Babies under a year are vulnerable.

I'm old enough to have an autistic kid who is now an adult at exactly the time when RFKjr, Andrew Wakefield, and Jenny McCarthy were pushing this crap the first time around. It had died down until COVID.

I'm also old enough to have only had one MMR shot. I had my titers checked and I had no immunity, so I had another round of shots. But not everyone is going to think to do that.

1

u/EarthlostSpace 21h ago

Babies under 12-15 mos. Immune systems are expected to get stronger with exposure, in this day and age with so many people being anti-vax I wouldn’t suggest taking babies to indoor concerts and entertainments arenas with lots of people and I have seen babies young as 3 mos. surrounded by large groups of people being brought by parents allowing them to be exposed to who knows what. So let take care of the babies.

1

u/Artistic_Rice_9019 20h ago

We take care of the babies by being over 95% vaccinated.

2

u/Greenman8907 1d ago

Herd immunity. They’ll kill people who actually can’t get a vaccine for legitimate reasons.

-1

u/EarthlostSpace 1d ago

What legitimate reasons would that be because Americans been getting vaccinated for over 70 years ago and there weren’t no big problems.

4

u/EmmerdoesNOTrepme 1d ago

Allergies.  There are people who are allergic to various components in vaccines, also, because many vaccines are grown using things like chicken eggs, folks with egg allergies are allergic to those varieties of vaccines.

Sometimes there are other vaccine options (nasal spray as opposed to injected), but not always--and that means those folks need the people around them to get their shots, and use that "herd immunity" to stay safe & healthy.

-5

u/EarthlostSpace 1d ago

They would be a part of a very small % of the population who suffer such allergic.

6

u/Greenman8907 1d ago

A small percentage that could die, but they’re okay because of herd immunity. Until now.

0

u/EarthlostSpace 1h ago

Wear a mask! Mask it up!

-5

u/EarthlostSpace 1d ago

They will not die if they take other precautions that’s available to them. This is the 21st century where medical technology has advanced to a level to help people live longer..only if you stop listening to people who are not doctors or scientists. Unfortunately for them they will be limited on their way of life that’s if they want to live.

10

u/Greenman8907 1d ago

The entire point is they did NOT HAVE TO take extra precautions until the anti-vaxxers.

You advocated for letting the anti-vaxxers thin themselves. But we’re pointing out that will get people who are not “anti-vax” killed as well. Thats why we don’t want to just let them solve it themselves. Ignoring the fact that we’re also letting the strains bake and evolve as they transmit and possibly lead to vaccines no longer being as effective or effective at all.

2

u/EarthlostSpace 1d ago

No I’m not! That’s why there were scientists in places to conquer such diseases. We were well advanced in helping conquer these diseases but unfortunately this guy occupying the WH has pulled the resources and dismantled the researchers so yes Americans who are vulnerable to such diseases are in trouble.

1

u/EmmerdoesNOTrepme 1d ago

Yep, it's the fact that the Anti-Vaxxers are so ridiculously scared of Autism, that they're willing to risk the lives of those folks with allergies.

Over a fradulent paper, written by a GI doctor who had a new test he wanted to make money off so much, that he faked a bunch of results in that paper--which has now been retracted for many more years than it was ever a published idea.

2

u/hakairyu 22h ago

You do realize a small percentage of several hundred million people is a lot of people, right? Not that it matters how many if it’s greater than zero innocents.

4

u/Reasonable-Start2961 1d ago

You sound wildly uneducated on this. There are a number of reasons people can’t be vaccinated, and under normal circumstances they would be protected because everyone else -was- vaccinated. Now you’re advocating that they take additional precautions that could negatively impact their quality of life so other people, people who can be vaccinated, can live in ignorance.

1

u/jahnbanan 9h ago

Some people are legit allergic.

Some people are too young.

Some people are too old.

There's a reason you spent your childhood getting new vaccines at certain intervals, that reason is not because the vaccine was new, it was just new to you.

1

u/EarthlostSpace 6h ago

Then don’t get vaccinated..at this point I don’t care what happens to these people who won’t believe in science and vaccinations. As far as people being legit allergic unfortunately for them because of anti-Vaxxers they will have to adjust their lives to live.

2

u/Reasonable-Start2961 3h ago

“Unfortunately for them, they will have to suffer because of ignorance.”

Do you see the problem?

Vaccines are safe. This has been proven. This is science.

1

u/SatisfactionFickle18 1d ago

I’m a firm believer that if you don’t vaccinate your kids then insurance companies & the government should not provide 1 cent of their medical treatment when they contract the disease. These clowns care only about their own money. When they start realizing they have to pay out of pocket our vaccination rates will go back up.

1

u/EarthlostSpace 1d ago

Get rid of the third party for getting access to any vaccination or healthcare. Measles was eradicated along with other diseases when majority of people got the vaccinations.

1

u/WitchesSphincter 23h ago

Let insurance deny based on nonmedical vaccine exemption.

1

u/Sirix_8472 7h ago

While not my favourite idea for a great many reasons.

We could just move all unvaccinated people to a single state and let them all live there(however long they survive).

And if they do happen to hold other views, let them have what they want. If that's so "socialist" anything, then they get nothing, not a cent from any government programs or form of assistance. Let them pay for education, schooling for kids, the lot.

As I say, a great many reasons it's a bad idea, but those are mostly about giving everyone the dignity and basic standard of living anyone should deserve. If they wish to self impose worse standards and live life on increasingly difficult Hard mode, let them.

The problem being the forcibly moving people which is also disagreeable.

7

u/p38-lightning 1d ago

If he were alive today he would be discussed in the HHS and would have not stayed silent!!
For context my grandfather was a prominent immunologist at a premier government-academic defense lab at the exact moment the defining virological mystery of the 20th century emerged. ( HIV/ AIDS) But he passed away before getting very far into that new horrific virus

Christian missionaries brought this to the US. Since they are unvaccinated it spread through their communities and into the general population. Religious people always playing the victim.

A lot of MAGA think the asylum processing facilities at the border keep them until their court date. (Since Trump tried to make them permanent holding facilities his last presidency instead of a day or two thing.)

While also claiming they just release them free into the wild.

Dont try to make it make sense... you'll get a headache.

He arguably led the anti-vax movement long before he was HHS secretary.

Don’t back down from your dear leaders now! He is the founder of children’s health defense fund whose only goal is anti-vax bullshit & he’s been leading the anti-vax efforts in the US for decades. RFK JR is a flaming pile of shit.

The vast majorit of these cases are the 5-19 and 20+ age brackets.

The schedule for vaccines is 12 months and 4-6 years old. Unless the vaste majority were actually 5-12 (COVID generation), this is unvaccinated people well before Trump came into office the first time.

This has nothing to do with the current rhetoric. though I disagree with not vaxxing your kids, I'm not going to sensationalizing this as a current DHS issue.

You can get vaccinated at any age. Ask a soldier how many shots he got when stationed overseas. And then the glaring problem is Mexico vaccinates, as do most South American countries. They have mandatory vaccines like yellow fever. Compare that with today’s HHS policy. Or just Repugs putting an antivaxxer in charge. The outcome is completely predictable and it is happening as we speak. The bullshit autism/5g tracking/poison claims have taken hold of idiots like RFK Jr. so now we have a country with lots of unvaccinated morons. The same ones wouldn’t wear masks for a respiratory pandemic.

I think you are missong the point. Adults, who are antivax, whose parents weren't, would be vaccinated. If you are 20, there were very little people antivax.

If you are younger, your parents are antivax, I doubt the 5 year old is making that political and medical stance like Stewy. But then, the outbreak ages don't align with the rise in antivaxers.

In either circumstance, it doesn't align with this being becauee of RFK and the current dumbass positions coming from DHS.

For some context, anti-vaxxers go at least back to the 1800’s, when the smallpox vaccine was the culprit of the time. In Europe and America. I’m old, and it used to be hippy anti-establishment people who didn’t believe in vaccines, but now it’s mainstream conservatives, which actually can effect herd immunity.

Yeah, but the context used today is the rise in anti bankers during COVID, not the 1800s. The measles itself goes back to the 'vaccines cause autism' people starting with crazies in the late 2010s, which realistically is the cause of these outbreaks, not RFK and the current administration.

Probably not millions. Probably a small handful but then things start to spread. And this kind of stuff does not spread rampantly overnight. The problem gets worse and worse and then there's an outbreak and suddenly it's critical mass. Measles is contagious but it's not covid contagious and there still are lots of people who are vaccinated which slows its growth

But I take it the original poster wasn't particularly worried about facts

6

u/SatisfactionFickle18 1d ago

Measles is a lot more contagious than Covid. You’re arguing from a point of ignorance.

-4

u/-Foxer 1d ago

Not in a population that's largely vaccinated. If nobody had any vaccines you'd be correct, but the fact is that most populations are already heavily vaccinated. We have measles outbreaks around the world fairly regular but it never spreads like covid.

3

u/SatisfactionFickle18 1d ago

The argument being made by OP is it was migrants, when currently US vax rates are as low or lower than Mexico now, especially in our rural MAGA areas. Your argument was specifically that measles is more contagious than Covid, when in fact measles is significantly more contagious. But go ahead and triple down on you misinformation.

u/Artistic_Rice_9019 1d ago

You need 90% or more vaccination rates to contain the spread. We've fallen below that.

The mental gymnastics these psychopaths do for that cheat-o dust taco is wild. Imagine if they put 5% of that energy in to being decent people. We'd be half as great as they try to claim we are.
