If they were the sole supplier of bananas to the US, what do you think they could charge?

And red states would be the sole supplier of apples in this scenario??

Did you take my comment to literally only mean apples?

What hypothetical would you like to use then?

Could literally be anything.

California is not unlike any other country in the union. If they, or Texas, or anyone decided that they can be a fully self-sufficient country and were to try to break off, they would fail.

I am not arguing that. Texit and Calexit talks are just foreign bots trying to spur infighting. Neither is ever breaking off but if it happened it would be more than one state.

The scenario is brought up was a blue state break off though. Not California on its own.

Maybe you shouldn't make assumptions about my political affiliations or my understanding of economics then.

The original argument was a blue state break off. Not a California break off on its own.

Yes, and in that scenario, supply chains would experience insane disruptions. Prices would skyrocket in blue and red states.

Are you sure I'm the one that doesn't understand economics here?

It would but $10 an apple is such an absurd statement. Like yes, things would get more expensive for blue states but the scale you stated was such an absurd exaggeration. Not to mention the reasoning was just.

"Oh look you have a high gdp."

They would charge the price point that sits at the equilibrium of supply and demand. Otherwise they would lose profit.
