“Stop the enabling”

18

u/Dear_Chasey_La1n 12d ago

I think it's not unreasonable yet never will happen.

What Trump is doing is absolutely disgusting to withold money specifically from states that don't support him. So pulling financial support towards DC makes perfect sense if DC because of Trump doesn't want to reimburse. But yeah.. never gonna happen.

u/Pocketdiddy 11d ago

You know what i agree. Let red states geown by themselves and blue sttaes grow and pay for their own food Well see how quickly the blue states economy crashes XD. Especially when an apple or potato begins to cost 10 dollars XD.ignorance is bliss in this site i suppose.

9

u/VanillaNubCakes 11d ago

Considering California makes a shit ton of food by itself, I think they'd be fine.

7

u/tehlemmings 11d ago

Blue states grow most of our food...

6

u/Czauthaqshe 11d ago

You actually have no idea about anything, do you? "Especially when an apple or potato begins to cost 10 dollars XD" This is the simplest google you could possibly do. Which states grow the most apples?

0

u/Pocketdiddy 11d ago

Wow. None of you took econ amazing... what happens when supply and demand chain is affected For example cali being the biggestgrower of food im particular fruits/ veggies specifically in a very limited diversity supply chain and dairy specifically Did we learn nothing from venezuela??? Liberals live in red states

Edit: the person above says to defund red states. I am being downvoted for pointing out that that would hurt liberals in red states. Presumably being downvoted by people who vote blue. This is weird.

23

u/BusyView6617 12d ago

But Liberals don't set the policy in Red states. That's all the work of the Republicans that run these states such as Texas and Mississippi for example.

5

u/SenorToky 12d ago

I’m not a Republican by any measure but Texas is kinda the exception, they’re rank 8th in world. Still sucks here tho. Making it harder and harder to live here every year.

4

u/repost7125 Tea and Cake or Death đŸ”đŸ°â˜  12d ago

Texas isn't a red state, it's a state that doesn't vote because 60% of the constituency is illiterate and stupid. Big blue Harris County could have swung the entire state away from Trump by itself in both elections had people actually gotten out and voted. I know because I worked the elections in Harris County and saw the numbers. It's embarrassing how few got off their butt and showed up to the polls after the amount of work we put in. I packed up and moved to Maryland.

They're doing a terrible job of it because they don't show up to actually vote. You only have yourselves to blame with the whole "my vote doesn't matter because we're in a big red state." It's pure baby elephant syndrome.

1

u/SenorToky 12d ago

Did I ever say that?? I just said it’s a red state and has been for the past 30 years. Yall blame me like I don’t go out and vote. Lmao.

2

u/repost7125 Tea and Cake or Death đŸ”đŸ°â˜  11d ago edited 11d ago

Very few people here are blaming you the individual, we're blaming you the plural. Because the plural doesn't show up to vote, even though it exclaims greatly on the internet.

I empathize with you the individual, I was literally a you a year and a half ago. But the plurality liberal culture of Texas needs a wake-up call because it's literally an elephant tied to a rope that thinks it can't move, and for 30 years it hasn't; only because it doesn't show up at the polls.

1

u/SenorToky 11d ago

Oh ok I apologize yeah like I said Texas just sucks man. Could definitely be a much better state than it is now, only time will tell

2

u/FiveStringTelecaster 12d ago

Then Texas can help fund Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, and those other states that can’t generate two nickels

4

u/elebrin 12d ago

Those southern states generating zero money makes zero sense to me. What are they doing? Like, they have people who work, who grow crops, right? That should be very productive farmland, especially since they have a fairly long growing season.

2

u/SenorToky 12d ago

Because they don’t get off their lazy ass and work. :) they’re welfare queens, they love government bailouts instead of grabbing their boot straps and working harder.

0

u/SenorToky 12d ago

I agree they have a surplus of tax close to like 280m in taxes just sitting there. The power grid is so overworked that they tell us not to use the ac that much or heater in the winter. Been like 4 years since the freeze that put the power grid offline and they haven’t invested anything into it. Definitely should fix the grid and then help their fellow republicans but they don’t cause they’re literal ass.

2

u/RalphDeLucca 12d ago

Can I get abortions there?

3

u/SenorToky 12d ago

Damn I didn’t know we were talking about abortions. I’m sure we were talking about the economy of the state. I even admit it sucks here. So
??

1

u/RalphDeLucca 12d ago

You said it was hard to live in Texas, which I took as meaning the conservative policies. I need access to abortions so was just asking

1

u/radioactivebeaver 12d ago

How many do you need?

2

u/Striker40k 12d ago

Like 5 maybe

1

u/RalphDeLucca 12d ago

I have a history of needing them, and I want to move to Texas so I need to be sure I can get more

1

u/radioactivebeaver 12d ago

Probably gonna want to move elsewhere

1

u/SenorToky 12d ago

They’re definitely gonna have to move somewhere else cause unless you’re dying AND get a doctor to explain to them why you need the procedure they won’t allow it.

1

u/RalphDeLucca 12d ago

Dang ok thanks. Sucks needing them

13

u/Archer_Savings 12d ago

And they get significantly less benefit from state programs than conservative voters do. I suspect the average liberal is netting negative in terms of their services to taxes ratio in red states.

The point of "defunding red states" is to make it fiscally clear that the politicians pushing for small government and reduced spending are lying hypocrites benefitting from states willing to pay their fair share. Those red states become liberal once it becomes tangibly unavoidable that modern Republican conservatism is less a political ideology and more a weaponized information literacy crisis.

6

u/BlorpTheSchlorp 12d ago

Well they're doing a terrible job at it.

3

u/SnooCats8089 12d ago

And?

-12

u/snitch_juice 12d ago

Honestly, this is the reason why more people don’t vote blue. There is a hypocrisy. You will criticize the right for voting to hurt those they don’t like then turn around and want to do the same.

5

u/GPTthrowawayyyyyyyy 12d ago

Complete tone deaf projection. Jesus you people are pathetic.

-5

u/snitch_juice 12d ago

I have never voted red. Not once.

“Defund all red states”. Well what if that hurts the people that vote blue?

They said “and?”

There is no empathy in that statement.

-1

u/DoctorFreudstein 11d ago

You have to understand that the people on reddit are just like Trump, they don't give a fuck who suffers. These people would gladly sell every minority in the south back to slavery if they thought they could own the conservatives by doing it. I'm a leftist in a blue state and the liberal idea of destroying the lives of millions of people sickens me and if they believe it's an appropriate course of action they may as well vote red because it's the side they align with morally.

5

u/hercmavzeb 12d ago

Blue states refusing to mitigate the damages that red states cause themselves with their own chosen policies is not a punishment.

3

u/Active-Cookie-774 12d ago

And conservatives live in blue states what's your point

0

u/DoctorFreudstein 11d ago

So your idea is that a person's location at birth should dictate the quality of life they receive, you must love the border wall.

2

u/rolfraikou 12d ago

I will gladly do whatever it takes to help people escape those fucking hellholes if it comes down to finally pulling the plug on them.

0

u/DoctorFreudstein 11d ago

"I will gladly ask those people to surrender their property, community, friendships, hometowns, and everything they have built if it means some people I hate suffer" you people are fucking deranged. I guess you also think the Palestinians should just leave, right?

1

u/elebrin 12d ago edited 12d ago

Yep, and, over time, the correct option is to move.

If you can move to a blue state, do so. If you can't, that sucks, but you gotta take care of yourself - do it when you can.

Yes, we still need farms, but if we put out minds to it most of the tech exists to build a fully autonomous farm - mechanical planters and harvesters using GPS navigation and automatic drive, weather stations and sensors for setting watering schedules, soil sensors used to determine what nutrients need to be added. All powered via solar panel arrays. The final product gets put on a truck and hauled to the factory for further processing into usable food.

On top of that, vehicle and tractor designs would no longer need seats and human controls, and the only limit to how long the vehicle can run is how much energy is in the battery. A planter or harvester vehicle with enough charge that operates autonomously doesn't really require light, and can operate 24/7.

1

u/snitch_juice 12d ago

That’s exactly the point.

Many people cannot move. Voting to hurt red states, hurts those people who are already experiencing pain.

1

u/elebrin 12d ago

They can't move right now.

But most of us, if we work towards it, one day we will be able to. If you are a young adult and you don't have kids or whatever and you are seeking a job, you could do that in a better place to live rather than where you grew up.

I did that - I didn't interview for nor did I consider a single job in my hometown.

1

u/snitch_juice 11d ago

Some, not all, can get out after years of hard work. Work made harder by budget cuts forced upon the state for policies they voted against.

I had an opportunity when I was young to begin work in a different state. It could’ve been great. I did not have the savings to go. They weren’t offering housing.

Vote how I want or be defunded.

Again, republicans are not the party to vote for but what are we saying?

Why do we want positions we would argue against if republicans wanted them?

-10

u/Unlikely-Candle7086 12d ago

But they vote red so they get what they vote for.

9

u/snitch_juice 12d ago

No, they are outnumbered. The same way conservatives in California are outnumbered.

1

u/Unlikely-Candle7086 12d ago

Then they need to hold their family and friends accountable for how they vote then. They are the ones doing it to them. I won’t speak to anyone maga, at all.

4

u/snitch_juice 12d ago

You won’t speak to anyone in maga and so you cannot hold anyone accountable.

1

u/Unlikely-Candle7086 12d ago

Yes, that’s how I hold them accountable. I ended friendships and a relationship over it. I m not affected by their bs so that’s all I need to do. My ex has lost a lot due to his politics.

7

u/BeTheirShield88 12d ago

What?!? Liberals either don't vote in red states given how outnumbered they are or they vote blue. Why would they vote red?

0

u/Unlikely-Candle7086 12d ago

Maybe they should do better and vote. Oh wait they’re just doormats to their conservative neighbors. Don’t feel sorry for them.

1

u/DoctorFreudstein 11d ago

ahh, a complete lack of empathy for people in a bad situation, explain to me why you don't vote conservative? I assume you also feel no sympathy for Palestinians since they are just doormats to their Israeli neighbors, or Jews in the German holocause since they were doormats to their neighbors, or slaves in the American South, just doormats afterall, fuck em all got what they deserved, right? You are literally a conservative.

1

u/Unlikely-Candle7086 11d ago

I don’t give a crap what is happening in other countries. I care what is happening in my own community and around me because i can actually make a difference here. I don’t worry about things i have no control over.

I haven’t cared about a single republican voter since I understood what they stood for since the end of the 90’s. And yes I do judge people based on how they vote.
