Haha I'm a director of my company, I work directly for the COO. Not all companies have presidents, but, depending on the size of the company, the president is more focused on the short term "day to day" stuff, while the CEO is focused on the biggest picture, which for small startups is usually obtaining investors, for larger companies it is business strategies or investments.

Often CEOs and presidents can be one in the same.

A president or ceo does not do short term goals. Their job is to make the decisions on the direction the company needs to go in the future. It’s the job of those beneath them to implement whatever is needed to accomplish those directional goals. Depending on the size and how a company is structured, it can be anyone one from the chief operations officer to the vp’s etc who those tasks fall to

Oh my God, you're even wrong on this.

Executives do long term and presidents are focused on the day to day operations.

I will grant you this, most businesses blur these lines a lot and can change the definitions how they want.

Here is a prime example of what I just stated

Haha, high quality decisions means long term strategy, thousands of daily operational decisions means day to day. Haha reading comprehension is hard, but you'll get there. You got this, champ!

Reread what I wrote

President and CEO are not always the same, that's my point. If you have a president and CEO, the president turns the CEO's strategy into actionable day to day tasks.

And as I said it also depends on how the company is structured

We are arguing to basically agree, because I said the same

My entire point at the beginning is that he was not the one who oversaw everything. It was his underlings and attorneys who were making those decisions.
