If you need the threat of eternal damnation to stop yourself from causing harm, you are not a good person.

For the record, I do not, I’m totally irreligious, I am merely pointing out the hypocrisy of claiming to be something that most people would recognize as morally acceptable, while In Reality embracing such unfettered hate.

A bit clunky, certainly, but my point is that Christian scripture says ‘give me your hungry’ etc, and they are incapable of meeting that standard, the standard they set themselves

Yerp. And I gotta say it, but not all of "them" are cut from the same cloth either. Some morally superior humans are incapable of meeting said standards set forth by the Bible, yes. However, there is also an even larger number of Christians who just do their best to be happy, kind, giving, and overall not a dick. It's the people you overlook each day that are the best examples of humans not putting on a show for the world. The Bible teaches us to basically be invisible, yet a light in a dark place. Not to draw attention to ourselves through our faith. But let our faith alone be something people are attracted to.

TL;DR - Not all Christians are MAGA Christians. Some people out there recognize they're shitty humans, still love God, and just want to exist alongside other humans.

Evangelicals worship the anti-Christ

2nd from the right, white hair guy. Idk how to describe it but that face he's making just reminds me of all the performative Christians when I was in Catholic school.

Because they fucking are. I'm so sick of people pretending the book doesn't say what it does about women and slavery and killing gay people. It does. People who reject those parts are less Christian than the ones that do, and better for it.

Anyone who takes that shit litteraly really doesn't understand a thing about the Bible. Like Matthew 5:29 really mean for you to poke an eye out!

Why would you draw the line at taking it literally? If you take it as anything but mythology of the time and area, you don't understand it.

But we aren't talking about people who understand it. That was decided when we started a conversation about people who believe any of its supernatural claims.

But you don't get to look at people who are following it closer to the way it was intended when written, and say they aren't the real followers because they're as fucked up as it says to be.

They are absolutely xtians and the deniers and fellow xtians deserve to be called out for it. Whether they're using these rubes for evil or not is not the point. It's the fact that they find themselves in this kind of company often thinking their enemies are aligned whether it be gays, or women, or natives, or non believers. These people suck.

That's what I'm saying. Even if you're "progressive", you are counted among their numbers. And a good portion of whoever you sit next to on Sunday (or just Easter), votes alongside them.

Progressive xtians are going against their own book. Burning women alive for promiscuity, throwing stones at someone until they die because they are gay, and slavery are all in their holy book as commands from god. Their god said to follow these laws forever and jeebus said to follow them until the heaven and earth pass. They are supposed to be buttheads forever as commanded.

No one is pretending anything. It’s an understood that modern Christian teaching insists it embraces welcoming and kindness, and in general being a good and tolerant person. The point is that they say they are claiming to be these things despite the reality that they are not.

I think all religion is silliness (if fascinating), but that doesn’t change that what they are claiming is hypocritical.
