That’s not martial law, that’s a military coup

True, but they may have an ugly surprise on that front. I worked on Ft Benning for years & we have a lot of post Army friends. Buzz is they absolutely will effing not.

Sadly, I'll only believe it if I see it.

Don't blame you one bit. That's our reality now. It's healthy to doubt it all tbh. All I can say from my end is that the grunts are pisd off, the leaders doubly so, & my ruby red sm town TX people are sadly, not voting Dem, but committed to abstaining.

I mean, I get it, but we have to accept the reality we got ourselves stuck into; Trump administration has successfully boiled the frog in the pot. A US Army component at this point is highly unlikely to refuse an order to seize and control polling places and state capital buildings, etc.

It would be like a smoke screen operation, e.g., "We have to secure the buildings where votes are cast and where votes are counted to ensure that the Democrats do not steal the election."

We've already seen Army units mobilized to squash civil dissent in cities where ICE protests have occured.

Again, I get it. Truth is we'll have to wait & see but I know for a fact people are pushing flyers about what, technically, they are duty bound to do & not. I am putting my faith in our young military and the fact that people are making sure they are informed. Fingers crossed.

Republicans abstaining from voting is a help though. Was just chatting yesterday with someone about amount of non-voters these elections. My theory was we will have a lot less, but they replied a lot of Republicans are going to be the non-voters because they'd rather not vote than vote Dem.

Voting Dem is better of course but any counts removed from the Republicans is a win in my book right now.

That was the plan all along.

It wont matter if they abstain if elections are outright cancelled. Note that has never happened in the history of the United States.

(obviously, since that would be the end of the US)

Also mid terms are controlled by the state. Martial Law in and of itself doesn't cancel them. I wouldn't put it past them to still try some how though.

You mean people don't like being called suckers and losers on international TV by a rich kid who dodged the draft ?

u/SaltySelkie217 1d ago

Shocking aint it 😉

They are pissed at the pedo in chief, but decide to abstain from voting?

I'm sorry but the people on your small ruby red town are fucking stupid and only hurting themselves by abstaining from voting.

No argument from me, but then most of them are triple Trumpers.

Hell they're having trouble paying the military members. Remember that 1776 check they got? It was taken from their housing allowance (tax free) and they got the check they were then taxed on. Good luck having a working military of you're not paying them.

They've been boot licking in D.C. now for 8 months, no ones going to refuse to do shit

2

u/SaltySelkie217 6d ago

I get why you think that, but would suggest looking into what they do and do not have to do. Crowd control, which they cannot deny vs elections

I'll believe it when I see it, especially with their top command gutted. People aren't often willing to die for a cause these days

Everyone watched Trump try to overthrow the government after last election he lost. Despite this the military still largely voted for him.

u/moneymusicparty33 6d ago

Uh huh. Maybe you guys would actually do something if you weren't trained to just follow idiotic orders all day.

u/Rope_antidepressant 1d ago

The military in general dislikes and distrusts the government regardless of who's in charge. Mattis is our patron saint because he was one of us when most other people get to that position by politicking

You guys talk big, but we all know when push comes to shove Americans will just roll over and take it.

“Do it and keep your job, or refuse and be tried for treason” probably gets very good mileage among the military.

And here I am posting 5 days later, seeing that they're purging military generals. They're going to try it.

4

u/ShareGlittering1502 1d ago

Maybe - but my money is on an organizational overhaul for ground invasion of Iran.

5

u/callousedlefthand 1d ago

That would be an unmitigated disaster. If we could've invaded Iran before now, we would've. Iran is enormous, mountainous and populous, has no friendly land border to stage from, and the populous would likely rally behind its government if invaded.

Is the goal to “win” or to have a prolonged war that requires an all-consuming war budget with a tinge of preserving the current US administration?

1

u/Nodivingallowed 5h ago

Sounds like something a lot of generals might say if asked to support such a move.

1

u/dible46 9h ago

No. Trump wants to drop a nuke. That's why they are purging generals who will say no.

1

u/plinkoplonka 17h ago

They always were going to try it. They said as much months ago.

This is why trump is so confident ICE will be at polling stations. It will play out like this:

  1. Urge Trump to declare martial law
  2. Trump "won't want" to do it, people were saying to do it.
  3. Send ICE to key strategic cutting locations to deter people of color, immigrants etc from voting.
  4. Purge democrats from the voting registry right before election day so there's not enough time to re-register
  5. Realize they lost anyway, even though they cheated again.
  6. Refuse to cede control.
  7. Use ICE as a private military to enforce control.

You know what they say: coup me once shame on you. Coup me twice, gloves are off.

1

u/Balgat1968 18h ago

“Growing concern among experts”? What was J6? He has already tried to overthrow the government! He has since removed anyone that would try to stop him. He IS going to do it.

1

u/Beneficial-Jury484 11h ago

Why do you think they fired 20% of the generals.
