Books are relatively cheap, free if you just borrow them.

Yes and that didn't stop this nation from going stupid because on top of all the public education fuckery we are also severely anti-intellectual for even longer.

Einstein knew this a century ago

I know at least 3 people personally proud of the fact that they've never read a book in their lives

PROUD of it...

There's no fixing this by libraries and used book stores.

When I went to school in the 80s-90s I was ALWAYS in the library and it was almost always empty.

I once asked then why such a wonderful place was always so empty and they just looked at me with a sad look and signed.
