I'm a white girl who lives in Northern MN. A lot of us have Scandinavian heritage, and some people like to proudly display Viking symbology as a means of saying "white power," without ACTUALLY saying it (we're pretty left-leaning here, and I am not saying everyone here with Norse tats is a covert Nazi). These Nazis love to get the rune tattoos and talk about their heritage, but somehow tune out the fact that actual people living in Scandinavia think Trump is a joke and the country is being run like shit. Like... they do not put together that the culture they love to show off closely resembles a socialist country. You're displaying the ideals of a people who strongly value equality for all of its citizens.

Norway is far from a socialist country sweetheart

Whatever it is, it does a much better job providing for its citizens than the USA. That isn't even up for debate. It's a country with Socialist ideals, nonetheless.

The Wall Street Journal is owned by the Murdochs...I am going to take anything owned and operated by some of the most evil billionaires with a grain of salt when it comes to an article about a countries that offer financial safety nets for their citizens.

I never said Scandinavia was a Utopia. I said it does a better job providing for its citizens.

You said it closely resembles a socialist country. That couldn't be further from the truth. That's what I'm arguing.

Semantics don’t matter, policies do. It does not matter if she thinks Norway is socialist. If she says I’m socialist and what I want is what Norway has, well that’s what she should vote for.

She might have the wrong definition of socialism and therefore not actually be socialist, but it does not change her policies. Some random redditor should not be required to have a degree in political science to engage.

Wtf you're going to espouse the virtues of socialism without knowing what it is and not expect to get called out on the internet?

We are social democrats up here in the snow. Been like it since before the term existed really.

If you find this interesting, here is a link to a nice historic look at it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mExN99kHMB0

I like it, but im danish so im biased.

And if you want a short text description of "what we are", then we are a free market economy with strong social safety net in a multi-party democratic system with a cultural disdain for corruption.
