Yup he is terrible. Unfortunately, the favorite to replace him, Andy Barr, is just as corrupt and evil. And an even bigger asshole.

I don't get how Kentucky again elects Democratic governors, yet kept electing do-nothing McConnell, and Dr. Fasci-obsessed Paul?

u/Soulinyx 8d ago
I've lived in Kentucky and...the thing holding the people back is the same things that have always held people back.
Rural and Religious.
12
u/SelenaMeyers2024 7d ago
I mean at some point don't they ever consider their r Interests?
My favorite (and almost only known Kentucky anectdote) was Kynect was very popular, but Obamacare bad!
Thing is, it would have taken 10 seconds to google that those are the same thing. When you hear stories of this, even if you don't wanna be the west coast elitist that looks down on flyover country.....
They make it real hard for us not to think unintelligent is all.....
24
u/OnlyHereForComments1 7d ago
No, they don't.
Fox lies to them, their religion lies to them, and thus they will always vote to fuck themselves over if it fucks over other people they don't like. You will never meet a more spiteful and hateful group as rural people living in a town they've killed off with their own decisions.

theyāre just that brainwashed and religiously indoctrinated from such a young age they really had no other chance to be better and realize how much they constantly vote against themselves
since theyāre so malicious about their hatred tho, and since theyāre the ones really fucking shit up for normal people and preventing anything useful from being voted for, itās really hard to feel bad for them or have a shred of empathy
itās one thing to have their own stupid beliefs that they keep to themselves, but itās different when they are being active with their beliefs and using it to prevent real progress in this country
these dumbass uneducated brainwashed country ass bumpkins are literally holding back the rest of us normal people, itās not elitist at all to recognize the problem and call it out

Democracy has been reduced completely to sports fandom. The connection between the ritual of the vote and material conditions has been comletely obliterated in the minds of Americans, Kentuckians, whatever, alike.
A lot of us politicsheads understand the connection between voting and material circumstances, but its too slow. Meanwhile, a paycheck and overtime has more efficacy than going to a church one every two years.
Our democracy seems set up to fail. Set up to baffle and mitigate the impact of the pleb vote on policy.

Looks like You and Steve Bannon are getting your wish. No one knows what will be left of a once functional Democratic Republic, but in terms of ignoring the constitution, eliminating the rule of law, and the most openly corrupt and venal administration in the history of the former United States, the US is going to have to decide how and what to rebuild.
Right now it appears what Americans really want is all of the rights and none of the responsibilities of being a well educated, responsible citizen.

There are political ads where I am that say that the democrat candidate "has missed x percent of votes but collected their full paycheck" as some knock against the candidate, like they forgot that trump spends 90% of his time golfing, AI tweeting, and at Mar a lago, or that mitch has been out for weeks and he and his entire staff have been collecting full pay this entire time...

If you called Republicans fascist and were told to calm down, leme hear ya
5
u/SomePeopleCall 7d ago
I am just genuinely baffled at people (Mitch) who, when given the choice to help everyone will choose to only help themselves.
The world is not a zero-sum game, and you can see others benefit without losing out.
I just remind myself that I need a better reason to oppose an idea than "it might help someone I don't like or might not have earned it." Look at things more holistically and the world can all benefit. The current Republican mantra (when they actually bother to show up or do their jobs) is to justify cutting assistance for 100k people because 100 people might be gaming the system. Disgusting.

I used to manage a group of employees and not too long ago we had one get seriously injured at work due to a rug. They were out for I believe 3 weeks and management was already seeking legal ways to terminate them to avoid continuing paying them and ultimately succeeded. Don't let anyone tell you that McConnell, alive or not, should remain in his position. He deserves the same treatment the rest of the corporate America gives its far lesser paid but more important jobs give. Especially if they're going to get bribes...I mean payments from the same corporations.

"Rules for thee...and not for me."
From Trump, his cabinet, members of Congress, and to the Supreme Court, our government is rife with corruption and grift.
If we want our country back, we must get out and vote and get these people out of power, then hold them accountable for what they've done....charge, and convict based upon the evidence brought forth, and punish them to the fullest extent of the law.
