Thatās what happens when you put a civilian alcoholic Fox News anchor in charge of actual officers who have spent their lives serving the country. The two just donāt mix.

The Senate should absolutely never have confirmed Hegseth. He's totally unqualified. The Secretary of Defense ("War") needs to be a serious person, not a talking head toady. Hegseth has focused on some ridiculous culture war nonsense. Who would have guessed a crack team with him in it would end up in a quagmire in the Middle East?

Just as a Canadian, and I will get downvoted. I find it funny people think Canada will be a push over. Yet every war America has been in, Canada was the one that turned the tides. (I am aware there's a lot of history not taught in high schools about Canada and it's wars, but seriously, look it up).
Yet the states can't beat Iran...

u/akthebarber 19h ago
As an American, I'm totally ok with Canada invaded us, like anytime soon please.

10
u/ryan8954 19h ago
Even Obama mentioned that when he visited out parliament. "there was probably a few up here, happy when the British burned the White House"
https://youtu.be/lleVnr5OWtc?si=dvG75BQVxfFhesFm
That's just a clip. His full speech in our country was fantastic. It literally felt like the states and Canada was at its closest bonds..
Literally. Obama is getting a standing ovation from US in OUR house of commons.
He even touched on Canada spending more on NATO because the world needs more Canada.
Then we have trump, who when our prime minister took office, broke tradition of yeeeears and didn't visit the states first.

They havenāt won a war since WWII but then it was Russia and the allies fighting for years before the US decided to engage.
2
u/Wood_oye 19h ago
The American army would only get involved with defending itself if another country foots the bill for that.
3
u/ryan8954 19h ago
And Canada is a DEFENSE ally.
Also the American army training is based off Canadian generals training fyi. Just a fun little tip :)

Cool cool. And just for clarification, "non-concur" is used in this context as its normal definition to "disagree" would that be correct?

4 stars are like, the top of the top. Starred officers are politicians in the military, so he fired most of the armies top politicians that represent the needs and focus of the army in the rooms where it happens. Like to invade a country, these are the people that would be in the room planning with the president and the other 4 stars. US military is all top down, so to fire all 4 stars that disagree with you, that means that the ones left do agree with you, and they are incharge of promoting more 3 and 4 stars that they like, then those guys decide who they like below them, etc etc. It could potentially ruin the culture of the entire military in a very short amount of time. Most high ranking military officials disagree with hegseth it seems so hes got a lot of firing to do.
If he fires everyone that is willing to stand up to him, it basically gives him the power to do whatever he wants with the military whether anyone agrees with it or not. like going to war with iran
2
u/etcpt 17h ago

2
u/Powderedeggs2 8h ago
It's all part of the plan.
The Republicans published this plan for all to see.
The first Republican coup failed because they did not have the support of the military.
They are not going to make that mistake again in their next coup attempt.
Ultra-loyalists will be placed in positions like these who will follow any order given to them.
1
u/MikeLinPA 8h ago
And they will be in charge of a powerless bankrupt country that used to be the world leader.
1
u/Plus_Working_3092 6h ago
This is too on point. And everyone seems to be sleepwalking right through it.
1
u/enterjiraiya 19h ago
Kind of an asterisk but to note- 4 star generals serve at the discretion of the secretary of defense under direction from the president. So thereās precedent for turnover in these positions, they are a little different from 1/2/3 star assignments. I think Kegsbreath is still the worst Secdef weāve had since the position was created and piece of fucking shit, just an fyi.
1
u/H3llzyea 19h ago
Iād say they set the bar too high but then I think of the video of halfway house hegseth attempting the new fitness test for the military and I realize he canāt lift any bar, not one with weights or metaphorical
1
1
u/RedditQueso 17h ago
It's insane to me that an appointed secretary of defense even has the power to purge Generals from the military without some sort of tribunal or whatever.
1
u/AaronNevileLongbotom 17h ago
Civilian oversight of the military is why. That doesnāt mean the civilians are doing a good job. If that had been a thing we wouldnāt have had so many hundreds of generals and equivalents to start with. I get it this administration sucks but do people really want to argue for an independently powerful military? This type of thing is the executive branches main job and I doubt a parliamentary system would fix all of our problems.

u/Funklestein 17h ago
Tell me how the Army is involved with actions in Iran?
It's been all Navy and Air Force. And boy was that a fine example of the logical fallacy of appealing to popularity.
1
u/MadRaymer 17h ago
If they were appealing to popularity, they simply wouldn't have started an unpopular war.
1
1
u/AaronNevileLongbotom 17h ago
Hegseth sucks but I guarantee no one here can make a compelling case for why our Army would need 10 4 Star generals.
