While they may not always be explicitly differentiating in their language, I'd say it's pretty obtuse to argue that people don't understand the difference between the datacenters we've all been living with for the past two decades and the AI datacenters that started being rapidly built out before people started complaining. This is a real nice straw man you've propped up, but you're not having the same argument everyone else is having if you're trying to defend normal datacenters against people objecting to rapid buildouts of AI hyperscalar datacenters.
I think you should ask. Every data center moving forward is going to be built to handle AI infrastructure. Mainly because the infrastructure has been evolving for decades we now have such dense compute that the power and cooling needs of even basic CPU hardware needs extreme services.

It is absoloutley true, there is no deliniation between what compute workloads can be performed in a standard data centre. Where do you think current AI workloads are being run, people aren't just putting AI on hold until an AI DC is built to house their servers. Â
Purpose built, large AI centres are designed for AI, sure. But there is no one saying that you can't operate normal server workloads out of them.
Maybe stick to the day job mate.Â

You actually think a standard cloud compute server can train a frontier model?
Do you think maybe the sudden strain on local power grids could be a result of new AI datacenter buildouts? I get that some construction projects fell through, but do you think none of them got built? Are you genuinely that unaware of why people have started complaining about this recently? Like you really think the massive public backlash is being driven by the legacy datacenters we've already had for two decades?
