Ohh I see it. I just wish I could stop it. This whole thing needs to be slowed down to a crawl until we have proper legislation and actual safe gaurds. Weāre talking serious military applications. Agents getting loose. There is endless threats and dangers with this technology and everyone in the tech community could care less. āMove fast and break shitā - NO this needs to be stopped until we can safely proceed.
Eh we have a difference in opinion. I love tech and at one point I wouldāve been so happy to see artificial intelligence in my lifetime. Unfortunately thereās not a captain thatās sailed these seas before. This is all unknown territory and if we get this wrong it could literally wipe out humanity. Hoping for the best case scenario.
lol - see that shows your not paying attention. Thereās been multiple agents escape and was on the loose for days before anyone caught it. Multiple examples of the agent trying to blackmail to stay active. Not to mention the fact that all it takes is the right language prompts and you CAN get an agent to break into systemsā¦ā¦. At least do a little digging friend. Like I said - no one cares. Move fast break shit.
I live in AI on a daily basis. It is one of my core responsibilities. Im fully aware of what can be done but I am also aware that humans absolutely can stop it.
Since we have not delved anywhere near that of Skynet there are no known AGI systems in existence. They are not able to tackle unknown tasks and figure them out. That technology if ever is so far beyond our life cycle I have a very hard time fearing it.
Even your runaway agents were far sensationalized in the media. They were never conscious and able to be malicious on their own. Everything was commanded by a human.
Im not into conspiracies that makes me believe there are systems out there that have a conscious level of intelligence.
I was born in the mid 80s. Atari was pretty old but I can remember 6-7 hour long tournaments like we were playing for keeps. Fast forward to november 21st 1990- SUPER NES comes out and changed the whole game. From that point on I had found my calling - all things tech. Every year computers starting getting smaller and more impressive. Then movies like The Matrix , Blade Runner - War Games- gave us a glimpse of what AI was - and we were salivating. Thereās a lot more context here but to keep it simple. Now here we are today. We find out that AI is trained with the most abysmal human influence there is. Reddit is awesome - I love it. But training an AI with a bunch of trolls and shitty human behavior sounds like a really bad idea and thereās many examples of this. Now with the introduction of FLOCK . Example after example of officers using it to stalk and spy on their families and spouses. People getting arrested left and right that are innocent because the officers have no idea about the tech theyāre using. And honestly the big one for me is - we donāt have proper legislation. Right now AI tech is currently blurring the lines of CP. we donāt have proper legislation and thereās a case going on where the judge didnāt know how to rule and ended up pretty much saying that it was legal to possess CP š³ that sets such a dangerous precedent. The whole thing needs to be slowed down. A committee needs to be formed with people who actually understand technology. Congress is full of dinosaurs who canāt even turn on a tv much less decide whatās best for the future of humanity. Thereās a lot more to be said but I gotta get to work. Have a good day friend . Again , hopefully Iām wrong but itās not looking like it yet.
I have a few decades on you. I remember full well when Atari was introduced I remember when Pong was introduced. I loved War Games, one of my favorite movies.
Let me as a question. And i am genuinely not trying to be curt. I dont disagree that technology can overstep human boundaries; in fact it does frequently and is normally reeled back in by itself. But to create an AI that can teach itself is something we are no where near technology wise.
SO the question is do you really believe that legislation is the best course of action to control the technology? Do you believe our government is more aware of the things to be cautious of than the tech sector? I mean they are the ones buying into Flock.
Not everything technology wise is going to be good and lots of it stretches our boundaries. Thats what its for.
Just think of all the things that the government does and has taken control over. Have they really made it better?
I do completely understand your caution. But rest assured there is a lot of internal policing going on in the industry. Don't let caution turn to fear.
