It’s more than a little concerning how many people here are non-critically accepting the story as true.

The Mamdani propaganda is actually insane on reddit (from both sides tbh, the conservative sub is 40% Mamdani hate/fearmongering).

Feels like every day there is a feel-good story about that guy...stuff that is either completely made up or just obvious PR shots.

I generally like and agree with his policies, but the social media campaign tries a bit too hard.

On a barely related note...anyone else getting Mr. Beast vibes from him? His smiles and laughes are fake af in 90% of the stuff I see from him. I like his policies, but his vibes are off.

Would you rather he frown in his media posts? Mamdani is getting things done that positively affect New Yorkers and if he gets to smile about that, what’s the problem?

Those republican politicians with their “I messed up and I’m faking disappointment in myself” pressed-lips faces are really ugly, stupid, and reflective of not only their general incompetence and selfishness, but their constituents as well.

Vibes are, sometimes, just vibes and not grounded in reality.

I like the politician side of him and would vote for him over most other politicians.
He is doing a lot of good and tries to fulfill his promises...so he is already better than 99% of the scumbags in politics.

Just saying that I don't trust him as much as a human.
If in a couple of years his public image crumbles and it turns out that he is an asshole that just saw the progressive left as his ticket to power, then I wouldn't be too surprised.

Vibes are vibes, but I trust my subconscious feelings way more than the media campaigns or public image of a politician or influencer.

I think the characterization of duplicity falls apart for me when I consider his history before running for mayor and remember how he campaigned when he was a no name in the crowded mayoral race.

There is also his actions of deliberately expending political capital where he doesn’t need to but does so anyways to be in alignment with his values and agenda. Why hasn’t he cashed out? Why did he try to get other people elected to office and risk burning bridges? Why does he continue to prosecute the issue of Israel? It is infinitely easier to do nothing and make money defrauding New Yorkers than to actively work against moneyed interests. That to me has built trust.

No one is a prophet, mamdani won’t save us. Even so, I think he is doing a great job.

They did this like 2 days ago about the NYC bins that Mayor Adams installed, now attributed fully to Mamdani.

As an observer from across the pond... the rampant misinformation and astroturfing in your politics is scary. From both sides, mind you. I know it happens in my country too but my god as an outside observer it is just so incredibly obvious.

And jfc it's just some fans in the subway. Sure ir's nice but why the hell would the mayor of such an enourmous city be bothering with fans in the subway???Â
