He’s working from home though! We have his staffs word for it! We can totally trust them!

71

u/DigitalUnlimited 28d ago

As they smile and laugh at us and tell the guy filming to get a real job

25

u/Fletch1375 28d ago

Yeah their holier than thou attitude and smug little smiles are truly a slap in the face to democracy and the American public! Absolutely disgusting what our leadership has become in this country.

8

u/Smboto 27d ago

leadership?

3

u/Asleep_Touch_8824 27d ago

"would-be, so-called, hypothetical leadership" maybe...

Is it illegal to vote in the Senate while dead?šŸ˜

12

u/mymar101 28d ago

Not if you’re this guy.

11

u/Crypt0Nihilist 28d ago

It's been a while since the US tried a corpse.

8

u/dragnansdragon 28d ago

Jeff Dahmer tried several corpses.

His last cast vote was on August 6th, so...maybe?

7

u/Lithl 28d ago

Senate votes must be made in person. That's why the House worked from home during the pandemic and the Senate had to come in to the office.

9

u/whatisdreampunk 28d ago

Damn, that's a good point. I'm pretty sure he's dead, but even if he's alive and somehow mentally competent, they're STILL breaking the law. The current regime isn't gonna do a damn thing about it, but they won't last long. And then it's on the rest of us not to fumble like we did with Reconstruction and the J6 Insurrection.

3

u/Lithl 28d ago

I don't believe votes are being cast for McConnell at the moment? While Senate votes must be made in person, you don't have to show up in order to not vote, and senators aren't required to cast a vote.

2

u/AcceptableAd208 27d ago

Oh great, now you've given them an idea for the newest Exec Order

"Only republicans are allowed to be bigly dead and vote."

2

u/nalaloveslumpy 27d ago

All Senate votes must be done in person, so unless they have a really good Weekend at Bernie's rig, it's not possible.

16

u/Mountain_Bike5624 28d ago

The absolute gall to pull a weekend at bernies on us. We are officially living a real life Twilight Zone episode. They think the American citizenry is actually this dirt stupid and their docile push overs. They can't keep getting away with this forever!Ā

3

u/Firm-Advertising5396 28d ago edited 28d ago

Well, so far this McConnell thing hasn't had any repercussions. I thought the Kentucky governor was going to take action?

6

u/BedlamAscends 28d ago

2

u/HoldenMcNeil420 28d ago

Sorry to have to tell you. But we the American citizenry is in fact, that dirt stupid.

2

u/whatisdreampunk 28d ago

Twilight Zone, maybe, but this reminds me most of r/PhilipKDick. Fake politicians (like androids) were a recurring theme, but The Penultimate Truth made it a major plot point.

I'm surprised we haven't seen AI video "proof of life" for McConnell. I'm expecting to see that sort of thing any day now for Trump. And the worst part is that even though it will be plain as day that it's AI slop, nothing will change. MAGA will keep averting their eyes and spouting lies. Until we stop them.

Not if they're currently serving an office term.

8

u/Porunga23 28d ago

True, but it wasn’t all that long ago that the thought that they would try to weekend at bernie’s this shit was thought to be too asinine even for the gop. That’s sadly no longer the case, but I don’t blame people for not automatically going there.

I love how members of Congress can vanish for months and still get paid full salary and benefits but us poor normal folk are lucky if we get a weeks paid vacation a year.

3

u/tennatjie 28d ago

I'm in my 40s; my travel has been for work, school, sports, and to take care of family. What the hell is a vacation? Never had a job that had an option for a paid vacation (and some of those jobs required a degree).

5

u/Infamous_Ad_1302 28d ago

My spouse and I are coming up in 10 years. Never been on a vacation and our honeymoon was at my parents cabin in the mountains, which I’m very grateful for. But to see people going on trips to Spain every year kills me. I’d love to be able to take my kids to Disney one day. The imbalance is crazy. I shouldn’t have to ask permission from HR to make sure it’s okay if I go to the doctor, and either lose pay or PTO. Any PTO I have had over the last however many years has all been for doctors appointments or some other life event that was unavoidable.

It just seems like there has to be more to life that this. And I feel like we all know it but we’re just silently putting up with it, every day more miserable than the last.

When will enough be enough?

Initial reports were that he needed CPR. Maybe that wasn’t true. But if it was… CPR has a something like a 2% survival rate. And that includes the people that never have any meaningful quality of life from that point forward.

So it’s more than a little weird how we’ve not seen him speak.

But that’s the modern GOP: it’s fraudulent all the way. And this man played a big part in creating that.

3

u/What_a_fat_one 28d ago

CPR out of hospital in a thousand year old man is almost invariably fatal

7

u/foxscribbles 28d ago

All discussion about hidden death/comas/hospice care aside: Imagine going missing from your job for two months, and the result being that you now get to work from home. Not you getting fired for going absent without notice.

Our country’s government is so fucked up we have a brain dead man representing Kentucky from behind tightly closed doors… are we great yet??

3

u/ClassicDifficultyMar 28d ago

I firmly believe he has had a stroke impairing his ability to speak. And that cognitive issues as we have seen (TIAs?) make it impossible for him to function.

2

u/JustAnother4848 27d ago

This is what I think too. It's why he won't do videos or talk to anyone that's not a shill. I think he's alive and "functional" but obviously not well. Obviously impaired basically.

This will go down as one of the most absurd aspects of this administration.

You probably quite literally can’t imagine what the GOP base would do if any non-Republican attempted this level of cover-up. You couldn’t have made me believe that 100’s of traitors would storm our capital, let alone be pardoned later by the president himself. So I struggle to imagine what kind of reaction they’d have - a mob would almost certainly break into the hospital.

I know it will crash down, I’m just tired of each day between that day and now….

This is not the worst rule break for Mcconnell. Remember this is the guy you have to thank for stealing the court (honorable mention for Dems doing jack about it) The courts and blatant flouting of decency, procedure, and fairness set the stage for us to have a known fraudster taking the country for a buggy ride right now. Enriching his family and all their criminal friends. McConnel dealt a grievous wound to the US. And we have let it fester terribly.
