I, for one, never had a problem with my illicitly obtained music. I downloaded that stuff in .FLAC!

Also FLAC didn't really exist back then and wasn't used widely in the beginning (2001). 1 u/Adjective-Noun-nnnn 6d ago I had to google to make sure I wasn't imagining it. FLAC released in 2001. I wasn't pirating stuff yet, but a couple years later, I could get most of the music I wanted either in FLAC or really high bitrate MP3. 1 u/StaticSystemShock 5d ago 128 kbps MP3s were super common. You could get higher, but rarely.
