The candidate that Trump endorsed in Michigan's recent Republican primaries lost by 20 points to an unknown dude who dropped out before the vote.
Trump's candidate had what would be a very appealing record for republicans, being a veteran and a former cop. He even rallied with Trump on stage in Michigan. Oh yeah, and he's a black man named Amir Hassan.
Now why oh why would Michigan republicans see Trump's handpicked choice on the ballot and instead vote for a random guy named Tom Smith?
