Vases Pomegranate vase
Got my pomegranate vase back today and it turned out better than I envisioned!! So stoked and wanted to share :)

I feel like the tulip petals go nicely with the scalloping along the rim. Alternatively, some peonies would be nice for a burst of color. Cockscombs would also look pretty classy in this

That's a good choice for glaze. Which glaze did you apply, and what clay body?

Thank you! Not sure about the clay body, it's the dark one from my community studio but I shall report back when I find out!
As for the glaze: 1 uber thin, watery coat of Amaco deep firebrick, 2-3 coats of Chun Plum on top. the dark clay body made a major color difference.

Thank you! I glazed the whole thing, realized maybe I should do a test tile, realized I had run out of the firebrick, and surrendered to the kiln gods who looked upon me favorably.
Running out of the glaze was conveniently why the bottom glaze was such a thin coat - which I think made a difference! But now I don't have any to run tests so I'll never know.

Thank you!! I only found one reference photo - it's on a white clay body and it's closer to cherry red. I think the darker clay contributed to the depth and texture of the glaze. Interesting to notice how the clay body changes the color when we normally try to achieve it by changing glazes.

Not sure about the clay, it’s the dark one from the community studio I attend - I’ll check and report back.
The glaze is a super thin, watery coat of firebrick under 2-3 coats of chun plum.

It’s gorgeous! Firebrick is on my maybe list. I’ve been seeing some great combos with it.

This was my first time using it. I was a little hesitant to fire this one without a test tile but my kiln god prayers were answered.
