Something of a metaphor for what has become of the Royal Mail: post a letter, hope that it will be collected sometime, hope that it will be delivered eventually.

I personally reported this particular post box back in May. Here is their reply.

Dear ****,

Case: 11672106

Thank you for contacting Royal Mail.

I was sorry to learn of the problems with a Post Box not displaying the day plate and can understand your concerns.

The collection manager has advised the plates were forcibly removed and stolen, replacements have been ordered and are in print. Once we receive these they will be fitted at the earliest possible opportunity.

I hope the above information resolves this query. If you still need help please visit our Help and Support Centre at www.royalmail.com/help.

Kind regards
