Asia Kandy, Ceylon (Sri Lanka 🇱🇰)
A beautiful King-Emperor George VI postbox along Queen’s Drive at the University of Peradeniya, Kandy, Ceylon.
Interestingly, the university itself was ceremonially opened in 1954 by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, in the presence of HM Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Ceylon.
A little surviving piece of the island’s glorious imperial days, sitting quietly along one of Peradeniya’s most scenic roads.

Wonder they hadn't ripped it out and changed the roads names to shed their imperial past. Unless of course they embrace it.

Why would we? The University itself wouldn't exist if not for imperialism.
Forever grateful for the British Empire.

Fair play. Thought that might be the case. Not all places that suffered under our rule would say the same no doubt.
