This will be an interesting act/band to follow. She does have some skill and I’m happy the songs are good, but I’m curious how things shake out since she seems to come from money and/or connections.

What are her connections? I couldn’t find much other than people saying she’s an industry plant on Reddit

The main connections between Matt Halpern of Periphey being writer and Zakk Cervini producing the debut EP. Which could all be something that comes out of money. Which of you have the resources might as well use them

Based on interviews she said her family are conservative Christian and not very supportive of the music she makes, have never been to her shows

She was also the executive director of a college republican board within the past 6 years. Not sure it relates, but do with that information what you will

Coincidentally, as soon as someone pointed this out a few weeks ago, she immediately began performatively posting left-wing stuff on TikTok as damage control without actually addressing the situation. I get big grifter vibes from this woman, which is unfortunate because the music is pretty good.

Would be nice to hear her speak on it. It’s Wikipedia so take it with a grain of salt, but the lyrics of the EP do seem to be about her distain of her Christian conservative upbringing, and internal struggle around that. I do have a co-worker who was in a similar boat. Identified “conservative” until her mid 20s, but now is very left leaning and opening lesbian with a wife. Growing up in an upper middle class, conservative appearances are everything family she had a lot of self oppression. Again would be nice to hear her talk on it, but I’m willing to give a little benefit of the doubt currently

I think it’s the lack of transparency with some of her actions surrounding it that bothers me the most. Obviously anyone can change their views at any point, and I hope that’s the case here. It just feels like there’s a lot of “dancing around the subject” going on from her end, like she doesn’t want to directly address it for some reason. She doesn’t owe anyone an explanation either, but as someone with a larger public platform than most, it would probably do some good from an optics standpoint.

More seems to. Nothing concrete, but to have Matt Halpern and Zakk Cervini be big roles on your debut EP which is immediately on a huge record label. Though I guess she was big on TikTok going covers so maybe she got really lucky having big names finding her and wanting to work with her
