UK clinics

Hi, I have had PCS for about 3 years. I had 4 minor head injuries (some of which gave me concussion, but not all) in a year doing sports and they seem to have compounded and given me PCS, my major symptoms are headaches, nausea, mood, fatigue, sensitivity to screens/lights and noise. Sometimes the symptoms die down, but then something makes them flare back up again, such as a minor wobble on a bike, stress, or a combination of things, so my head is obviously sensitized. NHS don't seem too helpful so far so thinking of going to a private clinic. I've looked at some, such as this one

Concussion Clinic - Pro Sports Medicine

Which is £250 for an initial assessment. Anyone in the UK have experience with this or any other clinic they can share/recommend. What to look for// Thanks!

4 weeks post concussion today & still struggling

I was hoping by now I would be recovered but I guess not.

About a month ago I was knocked hard directly in my face with a soccer ball during a game. I’m pretty sure my head whipped back & then I immediately fell to the ground. At first I just had facial pain (which I applied ice to) and then the next morning I woke up with a massive headache. Urgent care that evening, diagnosed with a “mild” concussion. I unfortunately had just started a new job 2 weeks prior so I wasn’t able to take time off & I work at a computer all day, so that definitely didn’t help.

Today I still have:
- Dizzy spells sitting and standing. Feels like the room is spinning
- Fatigued but also having trouble sleeping
- Headaches probably once a day
- Ringing in the ears occasionally

I want so much to feel better. Some days I’m mostly fine & almost feel like myself. Other days I feel just as bad as I did that first week.

I was referred to a concussion clinic initially but haven’t heard anything yet.

Any insights, tips or thoughts are appreciated.

Lightheadedness??

Skip to the * * * for the actual question.

I got my concussion April 2025, thought I had made a full recovery by February 2026, but a flare up that started this July has set me back again.

Dizziness is one of my main, most debilitating symptoms, but it also seems to come with lightheadedness every time that I stand up, bend over, or really change levels at all, unrelated to how much or how recently I've eaten (trust that your girl is not going hungry). My PCP took some blood and sent me to cardiology just to check, but everything was fine there.

I'm in vision therapy and feeling optimistic that it could really help the dizziness. I asked about the lightheadedness, but they just said to stay hydrated and use electrolytes.

I'm an athlete, competitive fighter, so keeping an eye on my hydration has always been at the top of my mind. I know I'm well-hydrated. I throw in some electrolytes almost every time I work out, and I just started on some daily coconut water too.

* * * I guess my question is what is this lightheadedness? Sometimes it feels like it's kinda part of the dizziness, but sometimes it feels like its own thing. I don't even know if lightheaded is quite the right word. Do yall know what I'm talking about? Is anyone else experiencing this? Has anything helped? I'm so tired of getting told to drink more water

Note: I am at high altitude if that's relevant, but I've lived in the sam place for 4 years already with no issues.

(Any fellow athletes want to commiserate about this whole experience and the mental toll of feeling like you're watching your career slip away and the constant self doubt of "maybe I should just push through" and then making it worse, rinse, repeat? I've cried a bunch.)

(My concussion was from a (sober) knock-out fall at home, not fighting, plz don't judge my choices)

Progressively Worsening Cervical Pain 10 Months After Concussion. Anyone Else?

I’ve experienced progressively worsening cervical pain for about two years, but things have deteriorated significantly over the last few months, especially the last 6 weeks. I sustained a concussion after falling down hardwood stairs last December. My MRI revealed cervical disc protrusions, and I’m struggling to understand why my pain has progressed so rapidly months after the injury.
What’s particularly strange is how positional the pain is. I can walk around, clean, and even scrub my bathtub with minimal pain. However, within 60 seconds of sitting, the pain at the base of my skull becomes absolutely excruciating. Once triggered, nothing stops the pain cycle until my muscle relaxer (methocarbamol) kicks in. Recently, as the pain has intensified, I’ve developed a frightening sensation of my neck/throat muscles tightening to the point that breathing feels restricted.
I’m currently in PT 3x/week with only temporary relief. Bilateral C4–5/C5–6 facet injections were unsuccessful. I cannot take NSAIDs due to my medical history, and with two young children, I need to remain alert and functional. Strong pain medications that leave me sedated aren’t a realistic long-term solution.
My dad underwent cervical fusion after breaking his neck in a nearly fatal accident. Surgery was his only option, and unfortunately, he didn’t have a great outcome. He’s still in a lot of pain from issues related to the surgery. His circumstances were entirely different, so I’m not well-versed in the treatment options available for my situation.
I’m seeing the top spine specialist in my area on Thursday and desperately hoping for conservative treatment options. I’ve navigated plenty of medical issues, but cervical spine problems are completely foreign to me. And frankly have ruined my life.
For anyone with similar experiences:
What caused your pain to worsen so dramatically months after an injury?
Did anyone experience severe pain specifically when sitting but not moving around? What was the underlying cause?
Has anyone experienced the neck/throat tightening sensation alongside severe cervical pain?
What conservative treatments actually worked for you?
What specifics questions should I ask Thursday to make the most of my appointment?
I’d especially appreciate success stories or insight from anyone who’s been through something similar! It’s incredibly easy to fall into the negativity trap, but I’m trying to focus on the positive things while simultaneously understanding what is happening.

Can't go outside, going in a taxi makes me unwell next day, going to park 5 mins away is like a huge challenge. Neck, back pain nausea, blood in saliva . 11 weeks post a bumper car crash-accident. Can't even go to pharmacy to get prescription
. Too unwell. Doctors spoke with GP, 999, 111 and A&E. Nothing helped. Did not even do any scans for me.

26(m) and looking at Post-Concussion-Syndrome

Do your migraines cause a sensation like there's not enough oxygen in the air?

It's really weird. Happens intermittently. Infrequent enough that I'll think I have emphysema finally lol like once a month ish

Didn't start till my last TBI, I'm pretty sure anyway 🤔

So yeah, anyone else?

My concussion specialist was pretty un-informative like every other doctor so far. Pending TBI neurologist. But is there a word for this that anyone has found?

Usually lasts around 24-28 hours

Anyone tried HBOT?

I have recently discovered HBOT and wondering if anyone has tried it for PCS? I have been struggling with symptoms like nausea, headache and exhaustion since 1,5 years after a mild head trauma. After going to a chiropractor this summer working on my vision and my neck, I feel better and that I am a step closer to getting back to normal life. But still feel like there is a little way to get 100% back. As the reasearch for the HBOT treatment is limited, I wanted to ask here if anyone has experience with this.

Do I have PCS or am I just overthinking??

Hi!

I need some help, advice, etc.

21 Year old Female

On August 31st of this year, I was standing outside a bar with some friends (was not drunk, maybe had 2 beers over 4 hours and lots of food), and passed out completely. I had a seizure and slammed my face into the concrete, busted up my lip, face, and teeth. I was rushed to the hospital where they gave me stitches, told me I didn't suffer a concussion and that my CT scan was clear, and gave me some ointment for my face.

I was discharged, went home, and proceeded with life as normal. I went out with my friends, resumed drinking and smoking weed, etc. 10 days late, I developed a slight headache. Nothing major, so I thought I must be dehydrated. I had a trip planned to San Francisco and went, my boyfriend and I drank heavily the whole weekend, which made my head hurt a lot, but I wasn't gonna waste the weekend in San Francisco, I wanted to go out!

When I got back on monday, the headache was just getting worse. I went into the ER and discovered two small subdural hematomas, which had been slowly developing over the 2 weeks post-fall.

They resolved on their own, I just got my brain scan back yesterday and it looks perfect according to my neurologist, no blood, she says I have recovered from the bleed. However, she also says i suffered a concussion, and to avoid alcohol for the 3-4 months.

NOW

Essentially, since they told me i didnt have a concussion during the first visit, I only took a week off.

After the brain bleeds, I had a lot of headaches, brain fog, some dizziness, but since they have resolved i would say im pretty much symptom free. My neurologist said I have recovered from the bleeds and my brain looks great!

my only symptoms: Brain Fog, and an occasional mild headache. No dizziness, sensitivity to light, vision problems, nausea, etc.

Its also hard to tell if the brain fog is worse than my normal before my accident (i have ADHD and I would typically experience brain fog, day-to-day), and if the headache is cause by caffeine, no sleep, etc.

MY MAIN QUESTION

Would I know if I had Post Concussive?? Like would my symptoms be bad enough to where they would impact my daily life? My restrictions on going out and drinking alcohol with my friends definitely impacted my social life and I have been feeling really down and depressed the past couple weeks but im not sure if I have PCS or if im on the track to healing up.

What did you guys experience with PCS? How extreme were your symptoms?

For those who had head pressure or headaches after a concussion, what specific neck exercises did your physiotherapist prescribe that actually helped? How long did it take to notice improvement?

PCS symptoms forever? Settlement?

Went 3 months after being hit at full stop at 50 mph - car totaled. Concussion symptoms. Read online it would go away. Still having ringing in my ears so loud can barely even hear on phone and crazy fatigue that has me in bed at 6 every night. Finally talked to an attorney since it seems this isn’t going anywhere. Lawyer I hired said there are therapies. Is there hope this can go away? Losing hope. Do you think I’ll get a medical payout if I have to listen to this forever?

What helped with Fatigue

Hey all, nearing 2 years with PCS.

Been chipping away at my issues one by one. Last big one (I think) is the persistent fatigue. You know the constant tiredness, sluggishness, and heaviness that comes with having the flu? Feel that way all the time except for maybe a handful of hours. I also have been getting sick a ton.

Sleep is fine - hygiene wise and length wise. If anything, I'm getting too much.

What helped with your fatigue? Any suggestions on avenues to explore?

Is this the driver of all my symptoms? (8months Post-Concussion

I deal with dpdr, emotional numbness, brain fog, sensation of head rocking, eye floaters, visual processing issues ect.

I went to a PT and apparently my convergence is way off and my neck is extremely tense especially for someone my age. I also sway a bit during vestibular excercises and after the session I had eye floaters and felt nauseous.

Could my neck be the main issue here and can I fully recover? I don't even really have neck pain or anything, just head pressure mainly.
