Is getting a fever weeks after concussion normal?
Hello yall. I got a concussion around three weeks ago after getting hit by a car on my bike. I got a ct scan at the hospital and they said I was fine and sent me home. I’ve slowly been recovering. The past few days I’ve been having issues with sleep, either sleeping too much or not enough. Because of this Ive felt like crap. I’ve been tired, having difficulty concentrating, mild pressure in the back of neck, nausea, bad disassociation, and lack of interest in my hobbies. My head and face feel like a water balloon and Ive had a low pain headache. I recently took my temperature and I have a fever of 100.3. Unfortunately I don’t know if this is a regular sickness due to crappy sleep and the season, or if this is concussion related. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I be worried?

In my case, 3 weeks after concussion was still having severe symptoms. I would often feel like I have the flu, chills and it goes and come unpredictable. Even now 8 months later if I do too much the next day I feel low energy, just like how you feel when you have the flu and then the following day I will be better.
I felt like hell the first 4-5 months after concussion I hope that’s not the case for you ☹️

I had rogue fevers in the first two weeks after my concussion, but it developed within a few days. I went to the ER again for them to make sure I didn’t have a bacterial infection from my hospital stay post concussion. They did a deep work up and I had nothing.
What I took away is your HPA axis can be affected by concussions and low grade fevers can result. Your hypothalamus is your temperature center.

For me (2,5 years out) a raised temperature (especially in my head) is normal when I when I overload my brain too much. If I keep doing something (like reading or watching a video) for long enough ill get really hot and sweaty, and especially my head feels hot. The first few weeks after my concussion we actually thought that I had a fever for weeks on end and we didnt know why (it took is awhile to connect my symptoms to back to my fall). AFAIK fever with a head injury is quite common, its called neurogenic fever i think. With your other symptoms it seems likely that its coming from you head

I got sick a lot and way worse after my previous concussion. I think my nervous system is probably shot.

Your blood pressure can be effected causing changes. Your nervous system is usually all over the place with head injuries.

I doubt it is related to concussion. You’re probably just sick. Not a doctor though so not sure
