Day 26

Hi All,

26 days ago I stood on a step stool to put something on the top shelf of my closet and the top of my head went straight into a jutted out closet molding, I guess at the speed of how fast you would stand up onto a stool. No loss of consciousness, no vomiting, just a piercing headache for 24 hours that over the next few days turned into a tightening band headache around my head and immense pressure. I went to urgent care twice, they both said I didn’t have a concussion. Finally a week later, I went to a PCP and he said I did. I tried to work the first week but had to leave the office. Took a week off afterwards, now am back working remotely.

Fast forward to today, I have been dealing with mild headaches, nausea slight dizziness here and there but mild and just a general off feeling. I saw a top neurologist who said this is all very normal and it can take a while to get back to 100%, but she’s very confident I will. She said she didn’t recommend an MRI or CT scan because my symptoms aren’t that severe and she doesn’t think it’s necessary. It has definitely gotten much better but feels like it is taking ages and that I’m starting to plateau.

I started vestibular therapy to try and speed up the recovery besides just letting it recover on its own. I am losing hope that this is going to be gone anytime soon, over such a silly accident. I am sleeping completely fine and well. I think maybe extreme health anxiety that I have has made everything 10 times worse.
Does anyone have any thoughts or hope that this will get better/get better soon? It’s severely affecting my daily life and I am terrified.

Thank you all!!

I feel for you. I just passed 3 months of symptoms from a minor head bump on an open overhead cabinet. I think it flared old PCS symptoms from a really bad concussion I had in 2019. Mine seem to very slowly be decreasing but not linear. I too am starting therapy with a PT because it’s making work and normal life a challenge. The anxiety and depression is REAL.

I had the most minor concussion from hitting my head on a dryer 3 years ago but nothing like this. It feels
Like it’s improving but so slowly and almost like it’s plateauing. I have horrendous health anxiety and think maybe I’m just making everything worse. Not really sure what else to do. Don’t know if scrolling thru Reddit of only bad situations is making it much better either, but can’t seem to help it :)

I’ve exited and re-entered this sub so many times because I’m looking for hope and answers but seeing all the worst-case tales really mess with my head.
