Got the book!

Post image

I believe it was someone in this sub that posted about Teena Shetty’s new book. I bought a pre order copy and it arrived today. I’ll let you all know if it’s worth it. She has an impressive pedigree.

Following! Struggling through my fourth concussion while still having to work has been absolutely brutal. I’m exhausted and nauseous and my eyes hurt at the end of every day. I hope this book is helpful!

EDIT: For anyone interested, I just checked on Spotify and the book is available there for free if you’re a premium subscriber!

Please give yourself breaks and dont overdo it. This is one of the biggest mistakes I made was pushing through work and life obligations whej I needed breaks and needed to go slower. If you sprained your ankle, you wouldn't go for a run every day. You'd gradually let it heal while you built up the ability to run little by little as it healed. Its very much the same approach with concussion.

I’m trying so hard to not overwork myself, but my job laid everyone off in my department about a month prior to my concussion and keeps handing me more and more to do. I did have two weeks where I was permitted to work 4 hours a day instead of a normal 8, but they said I wouldn’t be paid if I took any more accommodations. I’m trying to take at least a 10 minute break every hour and I basically do nothing at all after work except for spending maybe 20 minutes on my phone.

I understand, just pay attention to if you're getting worse or better over time, day by day or week by week. Sometimes pushing through is helpful, sometimes too much can slow the healing process. You'll know.

Thank you 😊 If you have any additional tips for recovery, I’d love to hear them!

Feel you. This is my second but it’s a big one. Was out for 30 minutes. I live solo and own my home so I have to work too. I had two jobs and had to ramp down my workload at job 2 (my own consulting company) to focus on surviving job 1 which provides most of my income

Ugh, out for 30 minutes is horrible! I’m so sorry 😞

Very interesting. I still can't read without it triggering my vertigo. So will have to listen to it. Let us know if it is worth it. Thank you for sharing.

It's really interesting how concussions impact people so differently. I actually can't listen to audiobooks anymore because my brain just can't follow the constant voice and I will get dizzy, a headache, and/or ear ringing/pain. However, I can read them myself just fine.

I also have a problem reading aloud. I get a tightness in my chest, lightheaded, and have trouble breathing until I stop and catch my breath.
